Can't even tell if the defense is too slow because they couldn't complete a pass for 15 minutes of that period. Just really ugly, no cohesion. Pens looked like they had the 13 guys playing during the lockout.

To be fair, several Penguins players skated and conditioned together. It would be incredibly foolish to believe they wouldn't be in this much sync.

True, but that's not game conditions. The Flyers just look all out of sorts. Bad passing has been killing them, and giving the Pens a lot of opportunities. Even simple little passes have been off-a foot or two behind guys, into their skates-not to mention quite a few cases where a Flyer just lost the handle on the puck.

Cooter looking off which is surprising. Wasn't he tearing up the AHL?

He and Schenn were playing well, but I wouldn't go as far as tearing it up.

I wasn't expecting normal January levels of execution, but the Flyers have been about as sharp as a bowl of pudding

Pens just seem quicker to the puck. It's the Devils/Flyers series all over again.

They got better as the period went along. Looking for a better 2nd.

What do you want? Pierre isn't working the LA game to fellate Mike Richards on air.

That's what I said 3 pages ago....especially the Dzone draws. What did they get? 2 Dzone wins?? Puck possession starts at the faceoff dot guys....

Faceoff %:

Sutter 80%
Crosby 78%
Malkin 75%

according to a poster on Pens board.

Nothing to do with Coaching. The Flyers simply have to pick it up.

The same thing every fan wants, for the NHL to shift that spot light over to any number of other stars throughout the league for a spell.

I wouldn't worry about it too much after a period, but footspeed on the blueline should be a concern.

It is, but I haven't even seen that being too much of an issue yet. 90% of NHL defensemen will get beat with the turnover and way the Flyers played the first 17 minutes or so

as bad as the 1st was, a quick goal and a 2 - 1 game sounds fine by me.
