Will be interesting (and exciting) to see what Saad can do tonight. I look forward to it. |

But even I feel bad for Carcillo - earned a top-6 spot and now (according to Kuc) an MCL injury - out a month. |

I don't know...He just doesn't bring the same element that Carcillo brings to the top line...The kid should be in Rockford...I'm just hoping he doesn't hurt the team tonight...Emery in net, don't know if that is good or bad? Hope he shows up big tonight! |

Me, too, becausae he certainly cannot be as effective as Carcillo was...I'm telling you, I have lawya tried to see the worst in Carbomb, but he clearly is solids in all phases...
I actually thought that they might put someone else there and have him play at the bottom end, where you would think he would start.
If Saad WAS to be able to bring it in the same way, we may have something...but as it has been from the start for me with Saad...seeing will be the way to make me believe, not talk, or advanced billing. |

Carillo's main purpose on the top line to to provide protection to 19-81....hope Saad plays well...and hope 19-81 keep their heads up even more without Carcillo there to police things.

Agreed. Sadly (looking at you Stan) he's the only current Hawk with enough snarl and skill to effectively police that top line. |

Mayers is long in the tooth, but he was elevated to Tazer's line after the Thornton mugging and played well. Could be a short term option.

If the reports are true and Carcillo is gone for a month or more, then what? Shaw could probably play there from a skill standpoint. He would stand up for his teammates, but I highly doubt he would be a deterrant. Would anyone back down if it meant they had to fight Shaw? |

Not sure if anybody saw or heard about the big donnybrook Saturday between the Ice Hogs and Grand Rapids Griffins. Wish I had seen the game but I missed it. Total of 230 penalty minutes and a bench clearing brawl. Griffins won 11-6. The Hogs are definitely the bigger more physical team (last I checked their penalty minutes were the most in the AHL). If the Wings want to make the playoffs this year they need to pull up a few of their top forward prospects from GR... most notably Nyquist, Andersson, and Tatar. Ferraro & Sheahan look great this year too.
Check out the bench clearing brawl:

Hawks don't need Carcillo. Shaw is the exact same type of player IMO and to have two of them dressed each game is overkill. eventually over a whole (or 48 game) season the penalties (and PK time) by having both Shaw and Carcillo on the ice will add up. I love carcillos energy and he can temporarily make an impact on the top lines but he is a $900k player for a reason. His reputation alone will cost some games.
I agree Saad has a lot of proving to do... he's been all hype so far. I hope he succeeds and can eventually be that top 6 winger the hawks have been looking for (Bickell, Stalberg, Frolik, Brunette...) |

Shaw would be an interesting choice...i love the kid...but you're right: he won't scare anyone. Tweets from Kuc/Sassone/Myers say the Carcillo injury is to the other knee, won't require surgery and expect Emery in the hemp hut tonight.

Hammer and being reluctant to shoot may have something to do with coaching.
Oduya was average except he ate up a lot of shorthanded minutes.
I am in the minority but I wouldn't be surprised if Leddy takes his spot but both need to play special teams....Leddy PP-Oduya PK (fixed).
Being able to have a quick stick is an art....Keith is a lot better at it now than when he was 22. - Al
Al, agree with you on all points here.
That's what I was saying to Philco (about Leddy) -- wouldn't surprise me at all to see his minutes/slot get swapped with Oduya's. I also want to see more PP time for Leddy, he made some nice keeps at the line and is far better than Keith in knowing what to do bringing the puck out of our zone on PP.
