No one can replace his role.Since we are already playing our bench though,I would give Paradis a look if Carbomb is out.Won't cost a dime. - eagle50
Unless it is a long term injury, move Stalberg up to the first line, Frolik up to the third and Mayers to the fourth. |

Was impressed. If we get that kind of effort consistently, we'll win most nights. I thought Brookbank looked decent and not at all out of place. Even though Leddy was out there for that first goal, overall thought he was solid today too.
Thought some of the supporting cast looked good on the forward lines particularly Krueger, Frolik, Shaw and Stahlberg. Stahlberg was doing a decent job along the boards and Krueger looks so calm out there. Saw one play in our zone where he settled things down nicely and then skated it out.
Carcillo looked good today too so I hope he get's back soon.

Tazer...nice patience to follow up the Kaner rebound and bury to make it 4-0....Kruger terrific hustle to thwart the trailer on a good L.A. rush....Sharp and Keith with dumb dumb penalties....pk did its job back to back...zebras really cracking down on any d trying to hold up any forechecker, even for a split second...Bob McKenzie warned about this new change.
Hawks under tremendous pressure late in the frame, could not clear, and Crawford got beat by a weak point shot, after he was caught leaning too far to the right to try to see around the screen.
Still, i'll take a 4-1 lead after 40. - philco28
I really like the way they are enforcing interference and hope they keep it up
This should really reward teams like the hawks that have speed but aren't big physically |

I should have added the caveat that my previous comment applies to the first two periods since NBC decided I'd rather watch the 3rd period of the Flyers vs Pens game also. |

It is a good sign if the Hawks can use their speed to get penalties when they try to dump and chase. It makes if far more likely they'll be willing to utilize that strategy when other teams crowd the neutral zone.
Edit: Of course, that is only a good thing as long as the PP produces. I liked the movement I saw today. |

Watching the replay it looked to me like he was favoring the right knee by not placing iton the ice |

I expect Saad will take Carcillo's spot on the top line. I don't agree it's that but it's what I think Q will do. Frolik and Bickell should swap spots too. |

Probably what will happen. I don't like it either. Swapping those two wouldn't be bad. Neither did anything to merit a loss of ice time. Bickell was more than willing to throw his body around today. |

The hawks looked good the first game
Hope Q continues to play allfour lines and is not as focused on matchups
I would like to see Bickell moved up to the first line and be given a 6 or more game tryout there before making a decision
Stan the team looks pretty solid except the goalie. Please make the trade to bring in someone since this team looks poised to have a good season |

Brookbank with a solid debut - philco28
I was disappointed from the standpoint Brookbank got knocked around some. He needs to play to his size. The second goal was on him. Not awful but I think he can be better. |

I don' think so....
I thought 3rd and 4th lines played very well...Q. will put Saad in for Carcillo to start with and leave the bottom six alone. |

I know it was just 1 game but I wouldn't mess with the lines too much. I would put Saad on with Toews. I lliked Kruger with Frolik. I expected more from the 3rd line since all 3 have been playing. I think they will improve as they play together more. Tomorrow and Tuesday will be huge tests. I expected LA to be off. St. Louis looks really dangerous |

I know its easy to nit pick everything, but I think the Bickel turnover/bad puck management was more a culprit. He inadvertently cycled the puck back down.
Liked Leddy playing with him. Leddy looked more confident today. Agree on the Saad call. Though technically/old school wise, you want that checking third line, I am more of the mindset of having balance on each line and Stalbergs speed makes him dangerous and other teams are always aware when he is on the ice. |

Yeah have that game on. They're all over the Wings. FYI if people on this board think the Hawks hype machine is is annoying, check out some Wings game coverage. I had no idea Damien Brunner is Swiss for Wayne Gretzky. |

It is hard when you are used to the sterotypical role of the 4 lines, but I agree I like balance more. I know it is early but these lines look solid. Rolling 4 lines that can come at u in waves really tires the other team out. Especiallly in a season like this with 48 games in 99 days |

While you can never count out a team with Holland and Babcock leading it, this could be the year their playoff streak ends. I heard Pang mention Brunner was a big Hawk fan growing up. So he gets huge points for that |

Put me on record saying that wthe idea that Vancouver is elite and still so talented...they will be lucky to make the playoffs. Team gets too much respect at this point. Hawks fans cry about 2nd line center Bolland, Sharp, Kane...Andrew Ebbet 2nd line pivot Vancouver...their whole second line is suspect imho. |

If Crawford doesn't get knocked over I don't think they score...
Knowing Q. he will change as little as possible, so Saad will skate top line. That's really the only place he can for now. |

How long is Kesler out again? I know Booth is gone for 4-6 weeks, which could be almost half the season for them once you figure it will take time to get up to speed |

That goal 'could' have been disallowed on the basis of goaltender interference. In part, it was a score call - at 4-0 the referees don't want to disallow a home team goal.
And to highlight the inconsistency of NHL rules as it relates to things that are or are not allowable around the goal crease - in another game they handed out a minor penalty to a player for giving the goalie a snowshower at the whistle. |
