If they are going cheap on Benn's contract, I doubt they want Grabbo.

I like him, but in the new NHL, he's overpaid.

might I introduce you to one Zajac, Travis?

And they could have kept Komarov on the 4th line, where he belongs considering he's got even less experience and proven even less in the AHL and NHL than Frattin has. Not to mention, his ceiling is pretty low.

It's just ridiculous that they finally give Kadri a chance and now they knocked down Frattin.

They called him an NHL player playing in the American League. The said, to the media, that he's good enough to make the team, he's just not playing his game right now.

That's not knocking him down, that's boosting his confidence while ensuring he knows he has to earn it.

It's the exact right move.

If you've watched the Marlies lately, you know he hasn't earned it. He isn't playing well enough to get called up right now. He will, but he isn't there now.

Not at the expense of young players missing out on making the team for Colton Orr.

C'mon.

- Two_For_Truth

No young player is missing out because Orr made it . Orr is there to play five minutes and fight. Like it or not, Orr provides something needed that no one else can provide. Frattin didnt make the team, but really, he'll be here soon because Mcarthur is out of here pretty soon. Also, Frattin has not been good lately he has something like 2 goals in 15 games. Not a big deal, Frattin will be back.

If anything, I think McCarthur is the vet who is taking up a spot that a young player could take.

presumably JVR will take MacArthur's spot, making him Tradeable, and Frattin moves onto Kadri's line.

I would actually agree with you...If Gardiner was a piece from Toronto, there would only be minor tinkering to round out the deal. Not sure if I'm convinced Benn is a 70-80+ point centre, but then again, apparently I don't watch enough Dallas games.
- p_zub

Question, have you ever seen Benn play, outside of highlights? Not a shot, I am only asking because you dont seem to realize how good he is. Dallas would not trade Benn for Gardner straight up.

the lines are not set in stone, and Frattin doesnt have to stay in the AHL forever....things will change 50 times before the 10th game..its ok

We have yet to see Benn hit elite-level production, so as it is we're already paying for potential...from a 5th round pick. A 22 year-old dman who's already scored 30 points, and a solid 2nd line centre who can score in the 50-point range consistently, is a pretty good start. I'd toss in someone like Kenny Ryan if they want more offensive depth.

Orr is useless. He's only there because Carlyle wants a goon.

If Orr wasn't there, Komarov goes down to the 4th line and Frattin could be on the 3rd line. It's simple trickle down.

I fully expect him to go down and go lights out.

If he does, and they still leave him there, then by all means, rant away.

Odds are he's back up by February.

If that's the case, pay him what he's worth, give him his 3-5 year deal, and move on. They're playing games, because the team is insistent on locking him up into his UFA years, like its some sort of organizational right.

Lupul, Bozak Mac are pending ufa.... if they arent signed and they are out of the playoff race at the deadline they are trade bait.

Explain why...apparently Gardiner and Bozak would have been enough of a starting point for your "all-star goalie".

Gunnarsson is shutdown D. Holzer is framed to be one and Blacker could be as well.
- Unholy_Forward

Blacker's both. Excellent skater and vision, and cannon of a shot. Plus he can hit. Having Gardiner down there took a lot of his minutes though. He needs seasoning for sure, but loads of potential there. Could grow into a very good 3-4

I don't hate the idea of Orr as the 13th fwd and parachuting him in when they play teams with heavyweights ...Boston uses Thornton, Philly uses Shelley, Rags use Rupp and Bickel, Sabres are carrying John Scott, Canes use Westgarth ....etc...

Looks like most teams are anticipating a rough and tumble 3 month schedule.

Frattin will be back up soon and we'll all get to waive buhbye to David "but what about face-offs" Steckel.

I'd like them to keep Lupul at reasonable money, assuming he performs, and I have full confidence he will. Like it if he could play all 48 games too. but if they can get a 1st and a prospect for him, might have to deal, if no contract has been signed.
