do you want them to win, or lose?

I never know.

- Feeling Glucky?

Not at the expense of young players missing out on making the team for Colton Orr.

C'mon.

The most important thing that came out of Leafs camp was the fact that Tim Connolly was told to hit the road

Hopefully it stays that way.

Because he can actually play in the NHL. He's not some 4th line scrub. He's a guy who can actually contribute both offensively and defensively.

How many players have a "great" camp and then fall flat on their face? They have to consider more than a one week camp.

@markhmasters: Nonis: 'Frattin is a NHL player who will be in the American league ... It will be up to him to change that'

Carlyle said essentially the same thing - he has to earn it. Impied he will, but they didn't want to just hand it to him.

he'll be up soon, especially if he goes back and lights it up

And Bozak was handed the #1 centre position.

One step forward, two steps back.

- Atomic Wedgie

Well to be fair, Bozak has been #1 for the past two seasons, so nothing really changes there.

Maybe? If they honestly can't sign him Dallas would take that for sure

and would be a bad move by Leafs.

potential top pairing dman, good #2 center, and a likely lottery pick?

(frank) that.

- Big_Lightnin

We have yet to see Benn hit elite-level production, so as it is we're already paying for potential...from a 5th round pick. A 22 year-old dman who's already scored 30 points, and a solid 2nd line centre who can score in the 50-point range consistently, is a pretty good start. I'd toss in someone like Kenny Ryan if they want more offensive depth.

So , just to be clear, a bunch of dudes are sitting around the internet in the middle of the day critisizing a super hot chick because she could potentially get fat and her tits are too far apart? That is sad for so many reasons. NOt the least of which is that it has nothing to do with hockey.
- Aquaman_2400

Frattin hasn't been handed anything in recent years. They could have cut him some slack especially when the other options were Colton Orr...

If this was Frattin versus Kadri and one young guy wins the job, it's one thing but when it's some goon, it just doesn't make sense.

Give the kid a break. It was a short camp. Not like it was a four week camp and he sucked for four weeks. One week.

I already said it's overpayment and your reply is to give them more?

Aquaman: 1) Pittsburgh 2) Boston 3) Carolina 4) Tampa 5) Montreal 6) Toronto 7) Philedelphia 8) Buffalo

Find it hilarious how everyone is over rating the Kings. Yeah they won the cup, but in 82 games they were mediocre. Theres no guarentee Quick is the real deal and I just don't see them being able to score too much. Suters schtick wears out quickly on every team he coaches and what version of Richards and Carter shows up this year? Sure they could repeat, but I think they barely squeak into the playoffs.

It was Frattin vs Komarov. They want Komarov with Kadri at the moment for the grit and defense.

It wasn't just camp. Carlyle outright said his play lately in the AHL hasn't been worthy of a spot. Their motivating him. He's been in the NHL. He knows he can get there, but he isn't playing well now.

They aren't waiving him here. relax

If they are going cheap on Benn's contract, I doubt they want Grabbo.

I like him, but in the new NHL, he's overpaid.

- Atomic Wedgie

Don't you mean the new new NHL? Ha! It remains to be seen if Grabovski is over paid. I think you might be right though. However, Benn probably wants 6+ maybe seven and a max contract. You are right though, Dallas might not want them.

I would actually agree with you...If Gardiner was a piece from Toronto, there would only be minor tinkering to round out the deal. Not sure if I'm convinced Benn is a 70-80+ point centre, but then again, apparently I don't watch enough Dallas games.

It's funny last year, we had an abundance of D and they were considered decent. We get rid of a pylon and now we are horrible.

Truth of the matter, its average.....what we've been missing for the past couple of years is a good shut down Dman.

- Fakepartofme

Gunnarsson is shutdown D. Holzer is framed to be one and Blacker could be as well.

all the normal top teams in the West are weaker. LA is healthy and kept essentially everybody that matters. If Quick's on his game, they'll run over everybody.

And they could have kept Komarov on the 4th line, where he belongs considering he's got even less experience and proven even less in the AHL and NHL than Frattin has. Not to mention, his ceiling is pretty low.

It's just ridiculous that they finally give Kadri a chance and now they knocked down Frattin.

You think that would be a bad trade? Honestly? If we had Benn, we have our number one centre and one of the best players in the league. Grabbo wouldnt be missed because Bozak would be ok on the second line. And if we get Benn I promise you it wouldnt be any where close to a lottery pick.

I'd go one better and lottery protect it. Make it conditional on 6th or later. Then I'd make the trade.

Leafs can't afford to move another Lottery pick, even if they get Benn.

They actually are terrible at drafting:

http://www.hockeydb.com/i...aft/teams/dr00005492.html

Which makes their success all the more remarkable.

- Atomic Wedgie

Yeah wow eh, those guys have dined out on the whole Zetterberg Datsyk Franzon thing for years and thats almost ten years ago for franzen the other two were drafted late ninties/ early aughts.

As for trading draft picks, they seem to have traded their first rounder almost every year. They are without a doubt the most successful team in the NHL for the last 20 years, so maybe I am not a complete idiot for saying there is tons of value in trading draft picks.

the lines are not set in stone, and Frattin doesnt have to stay in the AHL forever....things will change 50 times before the 10th game..its ok
