Don't forget you have Stewart Percy, Morgan Reilley and Matt Finn to backfill the marlies after the CHL ends. OHL regular seasons ends Mar 17. - B-Wforever
That's ok, those guys won't step in and take a spot mid season when the Marlies are likely gearing up for a Calder run.
The best thing for the Marlies is to win, and have those kids be apart of the winning in anyway. |

Anyone here think Benn is worth risking a 1st round pick for...as in offer sheet? - p_zub
No...no more moving early 1st rounders for the next 4 -5 years. |

I completely agree, but it's not how Carlyle runs his systems.
Carlyle always plays
Scoring line 1 (Kessel's line)
Checking/D line to play against opponents top unit (Grabos line)
Scoring line 2 (Kadris line)
Energy line (McClements line)
keeping JVR on Kadris line may make more sense at the moment as they will be relied on for offense, while Grabos line will be playing a shutdown role while providing offense. Kuli is better suited for that shutdown role - ILoveLamp

I have no doubt he is, but we could likely offer 5+ million per year (which apparently the Stars are not comfortable paying) on a 3-5 year deal and put the screws to Dallas. |

I was really hoping to waive orr and stekle stick kamorov(sp?) on the 4th with brown and mcclement. have jvr kadri and frattin on third.. - IrishRage
Komarov: .64 ppg on the Marlies
Frattin: .8 ppg on the Marlies
But let's give Komarov the roster spot. He's clearly earned it. |

That's fair...but how much better does adding a player like Benn make the Leafs? What if a goaltender is added as well in the near future? |

it may look crazy, but look for Grabo to consistently be facing off against the top line for the opposition. That's his role |

not to mention frattin was hurt first bunch of games and came into AHL while all these guys had a bunch of games under the belt. |

Who Shannon?
Again.....I rest my case.
I'm not saying the D is great by any means |

I could unload Franson for a 3rd to Detroit as long as Detroit picks the 3rd round player for us.....because they excel at finding those later round gems but really....for a 3rd....nahhh might as well hold on to him if that's the deal. - BlowMonkey

Franson for a 3rd or 4th?? No thanks. |
|
|
|
It is no benefit to Frattin to be a 4th line winger getting 4th line minutes and not being put in a role to succeed. He doesnt have to pass waivers this time around. Send him down. Give him 1st line minutes.. Gain more experience and confidence. Don't see the problem at all with that.. Its all about where he fits |

I watched almost every game this year...including the ones Komarov played in...he clearly is NHL material with out a doubt, hes got 3rd line all over him, pretty much would made most bottom 6 on any team
and he stated hes only going to play in the NHL
so yes He deserves a spot over Frattin |

holy F. do we really want to do that again?
Why in holy F'in hell cant the leafs just find thier own 5th round gems like this, instead of having to give up a Nathan Mackinnon to get one. |

How the (frank) is Steckle going to make this team over Frattin.. - SameOld
cause Steckel will spend half the games in the pressbox whereas you can't waste frattin sitting up there.....
apparently frattin needed to earn a top 9 spot to stay, and quite simply he didnt. |
