- AngryWhiteMale

It's a no brainer getting Getzlaf for free is way better than trading good assets for Benn.
- LEAFSfan28191

Was it not Getzlaf who had problems with Randy Carlyle? What about Perry? How was he with Carlyle?

By "people" you mean waterboy that is posting here.

I get the impression most people who hype JVR haven't looked at his stats.

Not to say they're poor, and he won't get the same ice time here. And perhaps having the creativity of Kadri along with other team's 3rd pairing Dmen to compete with will help. That said, he's no all-star

We haven't been building though. Half the time we were floating, now it seems we are laying a foundation.
- Leafland

Laying a foundation on what? Unproven, young players that we've been told are going to be great? Shouldn't we obtain a great player first, and then build around them? A solid goalie is a complete game changer ... One of the biggest problems we have in TO is "believing" our guys are good. Bozak wouldn't be #1C anywhere else. Grabo wouldn't be a #2. Reimer wouldn't be a starter ... JVR wouldn't be a solid player. The best thing we could do is bring a guy here for a year, let our fans build his name up, and then trade him away first off season chance .... Ie. Kulemin. But instead we are total idiots and fall in love with our players.

I'm going to give you a small piece of advice, just in case you didn't get it last time, when people disagree with you don't go over the deep end, take a deep breath and then post. I have full authority from the admins to remove the account if need be. I'm not picking on you, just giving you a friendly message to not cross the line again when you get agitated.
- LeafMan

Well, I would have countered that if people were actually watching Stars games, they wouldn't have gone bankrupt.

First thing JVR has to aim to do is stay in the lineup night to night. That alone would be progress.

I think I have two on my rap sheet. One for suggesting that loving hockey doesn't make you an expert (I realize I'm treading a fine line here).

And another because the Vancouver mod didn't quite get the unique comedy stylings of Atomic Wedgie - but thanks to Leafs mods, I managed to overturn the ban on appeal.

- Atomic Wedgie

hahahaha

big D here has a few, mostly in my younger days, but still get the odd one when some yanky team gets all upset that i give them a lil taste of their own medicine.

i have belarusian fever, what can i say.

It should be like checking your credit score. Needs a button or something. Ek, get on that!
- bloatedmosquito

What we really need is a search engine.

You used to be able to look up old posts, but for some reason Google doesn't work anymore.

I think Ek disconnected it when he realized I was going to publish a book containing the greatest posts of Atomic Wedgie.

All your favourites would have been in there: the Ek factors when making Sunday afternoon hangover lunches, the Burke/Sutter phone conversation on the Phaneuf trade, my female dogy grammar post to Julie that had her complain to her mother about me...

It was going to be a best seller.

Ek got jealous and shut the whole project down.

I agree with a lot of your criticism of our current 'building blocks'. However, Grabo IS a legit no. 2 centreman on most teams in this league.

apparently so did Lupul... so either Carlyle doesnt get along with a lot of players, or maybe doesn't like laziness or something like that.

Carlyle can go pretty fast too, we have a Coach in the AHL who is decent

LOL, I think people need to taper their expectations.

I just hope he gels with Kadri

- AngryWhiteMale

I hope JVR gels with Kessel.

I like Lupul, don't get me wrong. But to expect him, at age 28, to put up career year after career year is a little too optimistic, even for me.

Ultimately, that top line needs size and puck protection. If we manage to go out and snag a 6'2" 210 lb. top line centre, then Lupul is fine there. But since that's not exactly the easiest thing to do, I'd say that JVR needs to become the 70-80 point top line winger with size that he was drafted as.

I do hope he gets some good looks on the top line.

Mostly it is Sheldon, the one episode that he turned himself into a computer was one of the funniest episodes in any tv comedy that I have ever seen.
