I think it was as a result of it. Apparently Connolly wanted a bigger role (naturally) and if it wasn't going to be there he may have asked to get out. - Big_Lightnin
Interesting.. They could have waived him days ago if that we're true though? |

Exactly! People just think Frattin should be with Leafs no matter what.
I like the fact that hes been sent down. - Fakepartofme

Only problem with that? To be able to spend that much on a goaltender, Holmgren had to move some contracts out. He chose to ship out M. Richards, and J. Carter, as they were considered players that were not focused, and not committed to the team environment. He didn't believe they could win. That same year, both went on to hoist the Stanley Cup, and the Flyers still have a problem in net.

We will have to disagree on this one ... With the injury problems that Philly was and has been facing on D, I think Bryzgalov has played extremely well. And maybe you're right, maybe Philly isn't the place for him. But changes were made to at least try to better the team. 8 years dude ... And we are still looking towards the future, due to these pipe dreams that young players are going to pull through for us.

The world will end, when the Leafs are winning 6-1 in the 7th game of the Stanley cup finals, with a minute to go. |

This is craziness ... How can we not have made a more significant move then for the likes of JVR? As a fan, I take half the credit for the ridiculousness of this situation. 8 years since a playoff game ... 3 years since a game changing trade and yet we still support this team? How can we possibly make it so clear to the Blue Jays to make a change if they want us to continue to support them, and yet watch our Leafs put the same damn team on the ice and believe we are going to have different results?
2 years ago, the Philadelphia Flyers were backed by a young, talented goalie named Bobrovsky. They didn't win the Cup or make it past the second round, and the first thing Holmgren did come the offseason, wasn't have a press conference with the infamous "we believe in him" speech (one that has echoed LeafsTV several times regarding Reimer and Gustavsson) ... But he went out, addressed the problem and brought in an all star netminder like Bryzgalov.
Are fans, outcomes, and pride that much more important in Philly then up here in the city of Toronto? Are we Leaf fans really this stupid to believe Reimer is a starter, and Bozak is a #1C? We were dumb enough to believe in your Gustavsson trend, stupid enough to follow your Kulemin hype, idiotic enough to give Reimer a shot, and now gullible enough to raise joy over the Gardiner talk ... Instead of treating us like mushrooms, how about you do us the honour of treating us the way Minnesota has treated their fans this year. Or Carolina has showed appreciation to its followers. Or Columbus, NYR, Dallas or LA has went out and done, and pull the trigger on some proven players in this league, rather then keep lifting random rocks and hoping stars rise up from underneath ...
After 8 years with 2 lockouts and 0 playoff games ... I would rather hate a GM for making a poor move, then hate you for doing nothing to change our team!! - KaceTy
I like your rant, but even i knew well before philly signed bryz that he would be the biggest mistake and at that price and length of contract

Absolutley. In my opinion, Paul Holmgren is a worse gm than Mike Milbury. I hated that he sgned guys to ten year deals then traded them before they kicked in. Not to mention he traded a second overall pick for Luke Schen. Gave out the worst contract in nHL history to a goalie who is at best, ok. What else? His defense is as bad as the Leafs. Worse maybe. You kjnow what team will soon need a new GM? DO you know what town will appreciate Burkies style? I see a match made in heaven there. |

S'okay, not everybody has the gift.
Such as the fact that I realised that Reims and Kostka are brothers with (maybe) different mothers

Are you kidding? You've got arguably one of the top goalies in the league signed for 5.66 for 9 years, in a league where goalies are soon to be making around 9 or 10 million a year. Its a win, win ... Not a hard contract to move if it doesn't work, and an easy contract to afford if it does.
This just proves my point more clearly though. After 1 "not so great" season, which still led to the playoffs, Philly fans are doubting Bryzgalov. Yet here lie us Leafs fans, still believing in Reimer who has proved nothing. |

Would not pay that for that long, he demanded that money and thats why the coyotes said no to resigning him Reimer is crap too i hate when they say i believe in our goalies cause its utter BS, They really dont, they just dont want to harm the team and sell the farm for a goalie that will be useless if we DONT HAVE THE TEAM to play in front of him. Tell me what is the use of luongo, if we dont have "the team" to contend or win? That was burkes motive |

JVR had a broken foot and a concussion. Basically freak injuries that could happen to anyone, even Trevor Linden. Does NOT make him any more injury prone than anyone who straps razor blades to their feet and goes out on ice with a six foot long stick to go as fast as possible against some of the biggest and most physically dominating men in the world. Top line skills and a steal of a trade.
Kessel- Massivley underrated. Hasnt hit his peak. 4th in league scoring until Lupul injured. Did it without a centre or a good second line to take the heat off. Will eventually score 50. Don't care about the cost. It is what it is.
Lupul - still in his late 20s. Or as is called by the informed, just entering his prime. If Quick is a star based off one year, then so is Lupul.
Phaneuf - I saved him for last because what you wrote about him was a joke. Questionable leadership? Do you know him? Does he call you at home? Are you a dolphin? I mean, no one can judge a guys leadership if hes not on the team. Its the most annoying thing - except plus minus - that people bring up. Last year Phaneuf had an AMAZING year considering the team he was on. He has brought more than expected and Burkes aquisition of him has to go down as the most lopsided trade in franchise history and that includes the Gilmour trade. Phanuef ., like Kessel, gets hated on and I don't get it. This guy should be a fan favorite he is awesome. - Aquaman_2400
ok now lets be honest...what team are you really a fan of? who sent you? are you a canucks fan?
oh and Lupul..maybe not entering his prime....hes 29 .
players tend to trend downwards after 26 ...
