I think Nonis made the direction of the team perfectly clear and is trying to rebuild properly. What the hell does that mean, they dont have enough elite prospects to rebuild? Is there an elite prospect prerequisite to draft?

- Gunslinger

he certainly is saying all the things I want to hear.....quite refreshing after years of listening to Burkes nonsense.

Top PP unit looking like phaneuf-kostka, jvr, kessel and lupul. #tmltalk

I don't mind it, but I worry that they aren't going to start with the puck a lot of the time. Lose a lot of faceoffs and have to go back and regroup.

Liles-Franson on the 2nd PP??

EDIT: Fwrds maybe Grabs and Kadri and Kulemin?? MAc??

- burn

would imagine. Kadri for sure. Mac and Kuli will prolly go based on who's hotter (or colder)

I agree with your second unit. Kadri over Mac. Liles+Franson.

Is JVR bad on the draw?

- Gunslinger

Don't know, doesn't take many.... that's the point. JVR took 5 FO last year 40%

Poor Bozak

bozie will still garnish a lot of points on 5 on 5.

and id imagine bozie will be on the PP after a few games, they do this every year...when will they learn, kessel just scores more with bozie around, thats part of how bert and ernie work.

geesh

It means Kadri (borderline prospect) and Rielly are not enough to go forward with and say we are set for the future. We would need to add several more.

With the team the way it is now the leafs can hover around 8th-12th ..just missing playoffs and just missing out on the draft picks to start over.

There was really only 1 spot in the top 9 available after Connolly and Lombardi were turfed and Kadri earned that spot... Would have to move out Mac to make room for Frattin and at this point it doesn't make sense.

Frattin will get his chance when injuries come about and when Mac is traded for a 1st at the deadline because that's what Burke said he could have got last year..

Oh yes for sure. Its refreshing isnt it? Even Carlyle talking to the media is a welcome change from Wilsons attitude.

There are simply no facts to back up what you are saying. Did't rebuild properly? He swaped out two firsts for a 21 year old. Then he replaced those firsts by adding top ten picks Lupul and Phanuef. Then he traded for youth like Colbourne and Ashton, and kept the rest of his picks. All his FA signings were short term and resonable contracts. One of which he turned into Jake Gardner. Burke never traded a youth for a vetren, even when it could have gotten him to the playoffs.

I love you telling me I need reality, because I am only going by facts. I am not saing this is a cup contending team, nor am I making any predictions. but I do find them really exciting and they are indisputably one of the leagues youngest teams.

Sure they lack a Stamkos, Malkin, Crosby or Ovechkin. So do 27 other teams. Rielly is a blue chipper. So is Kessel, so is Gardner and JVR was a number two overall pick. This idea that you need a top draft pick is so preposterous because theres no guarentees with a "proper" rebuild. Washington got OV and Backstrom and i'd still rather have the Leafs overall current lineup. Pgh won a lottery. Edmonton won like three lotteries. Ask the Islanders, Winnepeg or Columbus how the "proper" rebuilds are going.

Watching LeafsTV. RC just took the team away from the media to have a team "meeting" it appears.

Reimer came out of the meeting with a smile on his face and tapped Scrivens on the pads with his stick.

Starter?

Nobody is saying they are set. Thats the point. Thats why they are still rebuilding. Im not sure where you're getting the notion Nonis is content with his youth and that its time to compete. Nor do I understand why you think the 5th worst team is that much better than last year because they now have JVR and McClement.

they almost have to start Reimer... in both actually. He's the starter. If you go with Scrivens in game 3 and he takes over, fine. But if they don't start Reimer in the opening, there goes his confidence. Done.

On the plus side, hello Mckinnon

You would think, but who knows. Many thought Ottawa would bottom feed last year. Im not expecting any of those 3 to be playoff bound, but in a 48 game season its really going to be an all out sprint with a lot of the unexpected.

Am I the only one who LOVED the way they were with the media? treated them like the idiots they are.

Burkes parting shot at Simmons in his fairwell presser was gold.
