Sending Reilly back to junior makes total sense but I'm surprised that there's no room on the team for Frattin.

The guy was the most impressive d-man offensively in the AHL other than Justin Schultz and he seems to have enough anticipation to be solid defensively as well. Give him a shot, we have nothing to lose at this point.

I'd like to see anyone here turn that poop leafs team from 4 years ago into a playoff team today.

nobody could have....hence why burke should have kept his big mouth shut and not made promises he cant keep.
is the team trucclent? nope.
is it built from the net out? nope.
are they hard to play against? nope.

Burke failed. The end.

he's still in a position where he has to take someone's job. He didn't.

Removing Burke was neccessary.....the amount of pressure on him to save his job and make the playoffs was intense.......he was ready to mortgage the future and that would have set the organization back another 5 years..........I liked Burke, but he had his chance and failed to make the product on the Ice better!
- billyberg10

No sorry, totally incorrect. Burke refused to (and had too much honour and integrity) make the team better in the short term. Its his plan and theyre still following it. He made the product on the ice way way better. Its dissapointing to see people say he didnt. Whats better Kessel Phaneuf and JVR or Antropov Kaberle and Stajan? Come on! Bottom line is that he revamped this organization and I for one am more excited about this team then I have ever been. Its young, exciting and we get to watch them grow together. Just because his roster hasnt had success yet doesnt mean that it wouldnt in the future.

no, I won't actually.

Now, he'll be called up in less than that, so then, yes, it will be irrelevant.

- Big_Lightnin

Can you imagine the fallout if Connolly get called up before Frattin!!

James Mirtle ‏@mirtle
Connolly going to Marlies. Nonis says we may see him with Leafs down road still.

check the standings and then tell us...

EDIT: and I'm not really disagreeing with you, but if the team doesn't do any better, it isn't technically better. It will be better in the future, but it hasnt been yet.

JVR is gonna be on the third line for about five minutes.
- Aquaman_2400

Or the 3rd line ends up becoming the 2nd line if Kadri can do his thing...

Wouldn't surprise me. With Frattin only having 13 more games, and Nonis probably not worried about losing Connolly.

Wouldn't surprise me either, but just look at the poop flying about Frattin not making the team..... people will be jumping off bridges if Connolly gets recalled before Frattin.

I'm not sure you can really make those judgements in this year's camp (unless it was an issue of effort). I think, in the absence of any preseason games, he showed enough with the Marlies this season to get a shot. On the other hand, keeping him around to play on the fourth line is a waste of everyone's time. I'm sure he's the first call-up.

I think we have more of a 2a, 2b

Both lines look balanced. One skilled centre (Grabo/kadri), 2 way scorer (Kulemin/JVR) and a gritty speedster (MacArthur/Komarov)

- t_leafs21

I agree but I kind of think Grabbo and JVR with Kadri as the set up man (though playing the wing Kariya style) is too exciting to not happen. I like the way the team looks. I like they kept orr. I like that Steckel is probably gonna be in the press box. I think we might see some trade action sooner then later though.

Burke refused to rebuild properly and failed. Hopefully Nonis will have the patience Burke lacked.
The Leafs aren't young and they certainly aren't exciting.
They are a mid-aged, low skill team with very few blue chip prospects.
Listen, I lovem as much as the next fan, but you need a wee dose of reality.

He refused at first. Agreed.

That said, he has been rebuilding properly the last two seasons. Im not saying Burke didnt fail, just correcting the inaccuracy of that first comment.

exactly, he has showed no consistency whatsoever and didn't have a great camp.
