ahhh January 18th as a Canucks fan

9:00 am-Schroeder is so awesome, he is going to finally be on the team and show everyone. the future is so bright.

3:00 pm- Gillis is a retard. This team is doomed. how could they send Schroeder down he was our only hope. Fire everyone.

7:15 pm- what, they signed Edler for how much? this is the greatest thing ever. we are so winning the Cup for the next 5 years.

I'm looking forward to seeing how Redden's season pans out. He's definitely not a $6m guy, but he's still an NHL player. Hopefully all the time in the minors haven't dulled him too badly.

I'm pretty pleased with Edler's new deal. Trading away your good players sucks.

You'd be even more screwed in Toronto. Even greek street signs on Danforth...chinese, ebonics...and everything else...

I'm just glad that we won't be desperately looking around for a puck moving d-man with a big shot that can play in all situations if he left this summer. Great thing about the 6 years is that the cap will be right back up there in another 3-4 years and this deal will look even more solid even if Edler doesn't improve and just maintains his current level of play, it's a steal if he does because those guys make 6 mil+ even on hometown deals.

I thought it was a great signing for the Blues, he's only a depth guy for them and if he bounces back anything close to what he once was, they got a steal. I love their depth, 2 very solid goalies, a great top 9 and a nice blue line.

I have been on the side of move him if it is a good deal, but I am glad it is over before the season starts. We now know what we are looking at for the top 4 for the year. We can concentrate on playing.

Very solid top 4, plus the Ballard-Tanev pairing has been pretty solid in the spurts they've been together. I'm not worried about our defense, especially when healthy, plus we have much more durable guys back their now and all top 4 bring the poops and shot blocks, something we've lacked in years past from all 4 of our top D since Salo relied on a positional game and wasn't durable and Ehrhoff wasn't physical at all. Lets just pray that Barker doesn't play a game and Vandermeer is very limited.

Sure, but if they deal him, he's on a very decent contract. It won't be from a position of weakness, dealing a UFA before he walks. It'll be more like trying to dump a disgruntled star. Way better...

And then you wonder why leaf fans come in here and say poop that makes no sense. Obviously it's a good contract and great value.

I'm guessing his agent was asking for around 6 mil and hoping that they'd realistically settle at 5.5 mil and MG just waited it out knowing that Eder wanted to stay here and maybe budged from his usual 4.6 mil offer for d-men. The Swedes are pretty loyal players(ask Maple Leafs fans with Sundin's NTC).

Plus when Phanuef signed his contract he looked like he was on his way to becoming a top 10 d-man in this league.

He's our highest valued asset without a NTC now. Edler would be worth a fortune on the trade market. Best to keep him at this price though.

Now that Edler is signed we can concentrate our full trolling on the goalie controversy.
