I think players wanting to stay here has more to do with hometown Vancouver, friends and success than Gillis'/Gillman skills as a GM. It's the same group of guys for the most part from Nonis/Burke taking these contracts and the new guys are local. This has to make it alot easier for whichever GM is at the wheel. - boonerbuck
Success, friends and the city definitely play into it. |

Vancouver has a lot to offer. Not confusing at all why guys stay there for less. Beautiful city. Just stay out of the parts where the road signs arent in english. That poop (frank)ed me up. - sanfordnson
It's only on the Sea-To-Sky... but yeah, every time I head to Squamish and Whistler I'm like WTF?? |

He certanly isn't media friendly.

Gilman is a very nice guy. I'm not a fan of Rintoul at all. MG better wait for a good deal. - Gordiehowetrick
No problem with him waiting for the best offer, he could be more media friendly .If it is painful for him to talk to the media then send in one of his flunkies.
Who would be a Rintould fan,he is annoying . |

WTF...we went out for dinner, I come back and Edler's signed to a good deal. If he can get consistency in his game he'd be a top ten guy. |
|
|
|
Edler. Well we know we won't see him walk for nothing... I'll judge if I want him past the TDL on his salary. I would love to keep him. - boonerbuck
It's a good deal if he is consistent . Lets hope. |

the only way that's p brain is if was taken at the draft. When bb announced 7th round pick, prockstar claims that he had those very 7guys as the top 7 picks in the entire draft. Bb is a genius, he will be leafs GM forever - Bieksa#3
The big question is if Edler costs us 5 M WTF is Corrado going to cost us? |

Elliotte Friedman @FriedgeHNIC
Edler probably left money on table, but he's clearly happy in Vancouver. Once again, Canucks get a core player to take a little less to stay - pker2theend
I have no doubt in my mind that another good team like Detroit, Philly, Phoenix or Tampa would have offered 5.5, maybe some desperate team(Detroit if they suck this year and the usual teams like NYI) would have gone crazy at 6 mil. Solid signing. |

Granville Island was so cool. Totes jelly of that. Went to a club called Babaloos later. Lineups were gay during Indy Weekend. Sister is a flight attendant got us in. Some hot asian chick got super friendly on the dance floor. Felt another body behind me grinding and was all "yeahhh" until I turned around and it was an asian dude. They both smiled seductively. I left the dance floor and got blackout drunk. Heard that place burned down. I was not sad. |

You'd be even more screwed in Toronto. Even greek street signs on Danforth...chinese, ebonics...and everything else...
