Matteau makes Devils roster... Wish we drafted him over Skeji. - mrhattrick27
Yea, me too. I guess they drafted Skjei knowing that they wouldnt be able to keep all 4 of these Dmen.
"Skjei is a two-way defenseman whose game is stronger on the defensive side than it is on offense. He plays a sound game in his own end of the ice, although he does not make use of his big frame. Skjei is a very good skater for a player of his size, but it isn't a skill that he relies on up to this point in his career. Skjei definitely has some outstanding traits, but he is not yet the complete package. At this stage, he appears to be a lower pairing defender when he reaches his full potential."
Guys, due to the Sabbath, I won't be able to post tomorrow but have a season preview blog with some stuff to get you even more pumped, if possible, to the guys at Hockey Buzz who will post it on my behalf.

Now thinking back, I like Skjei pick. Seeing is how Erixon was needed in trading for Rick Nash, the only high level prospect the Rangers would have had on the blue line would have been Mcilrath. The Rangers already had Kreider and Miller at the time of the picking of Skjei. The Rangers just have to hope one of St. Croix, Fogarty, Nieves, Lindberg or Fasth develope.

I think Fasth can be a solid 3rd line guy, Im really pushing for this guy and really hope he gets a look when the swedish season is over.
As for Skjei, Im indifferent in the pick because I would be happy either way. Theres just something sacrilegious about Matteau on the Devils.
Heres my view, we can never have too many good prospects in our system because there may come a day where we will need to make a deadline deal to put us over the hump and lift the cup. Regardless, the way this team has turned it around the last 4 years, I trust Gordie and... dare I say it... Sather.

Also like Lindberg a lot. He's smooth, skates well, good on draws and is adding some offense to his game in Sweden. Could eventually replace Boyle as 3rd line C.

Thanks, Jan. Above and beyond.
After so long with no hockey, I have a double header tomorrow, with PSU v Vermont at 8. Short turnaround for the building. I'm thinking the ice could be a problem.

Sixers going into OT now...crew going to be working hard
Columbus and Toronto missed the boat on him. - tomburton99
The Devils had him in training camp last season and released him.
The Rangers signed him a month later for defensive insurance as Marc Staal was out long term with a concussion. They resigned him this past July to a two year contract.
