The Rangers are in great shape for this season. They could easily win the Cup. - Jethro09
They're one of the best in the league. Unfortunately, we play in a division with three of the best in the league and for that reason, Ranger fans shouldn't feel overly confident about anything. Both the Flyers and Pens are more than capable of dusting the Rangers and vice versa. Meanwhile, on Long Island....

Yeah...I love the idea of Aucoin, Strait and Finley in BPort. But they have to keep everyone for 30 days. Getting a bit crowded on the roster now, especially on defense. I guess they can go with 8 defensemen for a while, but then what? Bailey comes back, Joensuu, Vis possibly...all of that should happen before 30 days, right? |

I hope you're right, but I remember when the Isles signed Eaton someone from the Pens' board said that we were going to love him too and that he was a solid pick up. I'm beginning to think you Pens' guys are just f-ing with us, toying with our emotions... - Jethro09
I might have been one of them, I liked Eaton. |

9 would be the number......thats exactly half of the skaters (not including goalies). Makes you feel real good about this team that they've picked up almost half the allowed skaters via waivers.

Put it this way....like them or hate them, if Bettman and Fehr decided that as part of the CBA the Islanders would be able to swap their entire roster with one NHL team, the Rangers would be among maybe five teams I'd consider. Nothing's guaranteed. Anything can happen, especially once the playoffs start. But they're in a pretty good position to do some damage. - UIF
I agree 100%. As much as I hate to say it, the Rangers have been a model franchise over the past seven or so seasons. They are deep and predominantly home-grown. The've got one of the best goaltenders in the world who was homegrown, a young, talented and deep homegrown defense and their forward group is solid. Guys like Callahan, Hagman, Kreider, Stepan, are all home-grown and big contributors. They traded home-grown assets to land Nash in a steal of a deal.
They've made mistakes, but with the exception of Drury and Redden, Sather was able to correct his mistakes in a big way. His trade of Gomez was a work of art. He not only erased a horrid contract, he got back a huge asset in McDonough. His last two coaching hires were great as well. As an Isles fan, all of this makes me want to repeatedly puke in my mouth. |

Hate the Rags too but you would have to be stupid or blind NOT to see they have a very solid team, with an albeit crazy but great Coach who gets the most out of them. Thought Tortolini should have won the Jack Adams last year. |

I'd probably slim that down to 'three seasons'. Still, they've done a hell of a job in a phoenix like rebirth (the bird, not the city). The Flyers have done the same if not even better with the exception of finding a goaltender. |

suk it..........stay out of our barn. With your gay potvin chants - kindlyrick
Yeah, especially since it's probably at the point that half of OUR fans don't know which one of the guys named Potvin who played for us they're even talking about.....never mind their fans.....it's like, who's chanting that at the Garden, 70-year-old men? No one remembers Ulf Nilsson anyway, except us old guys....and besides....if the ice at the Garden didn't suck, he wouldn't have left on a stretcher. That's what you get for building a hockey rink on top of a sewer, and a train station.... |
