great analysis, why don't you actually write some words, explaining why i'm wrong, or is about as good as your analysis gets?

RNH and Dubnyk

not sure you can say that with 100% certainty. i haven't heard a single analysis from anybody that's confident in dubnyk as the goalie. all the talk is about "is he ready" "can he handle the workload" "can he be consistent". bishop has a lot of potential, and could challenge dubnyk for the number 1 job. at the very least, having a good goalie playing behind him would light a fire under dubnyk's ass. how worried can he be about losign his job, when his back up is pretty much an old cripple

I can say with 100% certainty that Dubnyk is better than Bishop. That won't change until Bishop proves he can play in the NHL on a consistent basis.

Well.. well well... I wasn't trying to be a smara$$.... but you clearly are... you would at least have to throw in Gagner too in order to get Grigorenko!

Why not trade Klefbom and a 5th for Rinne? You know Nashville's having all of that problem with money. We'll help them out by taking Rinne off of their hands. Bump it up to a 3rd if they include Shea Weber. The Oilers would truly be the gentlemen of the NHL to help Nashville out so much.

when has dubnyk shown he can play in the NHL on a consistent basis. it's certainly not obvious when looking at his numbers.

bishop has had the misfortune of playing behind halak in st louis, and now anderson and lehner in ottawa. you assume a guy isn't good because he can't get the starting job in teh NHL, without acutally looking at the situations he finds himself in.

I figured as much... our 1C is a huge glaring need.. and a star goalie is yours.

Thought maybe we could scratch eachother's backs.

it isn't totally unreasonable... its not like I low-balled the f#ck out of you.

His numbers are respectable on a brutal team. Bishop has the same question marks as Dubnyk. The Oilers wont do anything with the position untill they know that Dubnyk can be a starter or not.

the reason i suggested perhaps bringing in bishop (or another goalie) is that IF they find out dubnyk can't handle the workload, or just simply "doesn't have it", they have NOTHING to fall back on. i think the prevailing opinion is that you need 2 quality goalies to win in this league, and the oilers aren't even 100% sure that they have one....why not bring in another young guy, and let 2 young talented goalies grow with the rest of your young team.

Thing is if they had any intention of picking up a goalie they wouldn't have brought Dannis up.

At the moment the Goaltending is the biggest question mark but if we were to trade RNH they would create an even larger hole then they fill. I wouldn't mind swapping players they could always us help on the blueline.

Hall, Dubnyk and a 3rd or 4th rounder.

Im content with seeing what this team has... I think Dubnyk is ready and the team does too. Whitney healthy could be bigger than anyone think, plus a full year of N. Schultz, and new additions J. Schultz and Yak... cant wait to drop the puck!

what about bishop and a 2nd rd pick for smid? you guys have some solid stay at home guys (n. schultz, fistric), plus some solid young gusy (klefbom, j.schultz).

move smid, get a decent pick and a goalie with some solid potential. has played great in AHL and limited NHL action the last 3 years.

- sensarmy_11

I actually would love to bring in bishop. Unfortunately I wouldn't do the deal you presented. Smid is very important to the oilers and he would immediately step on to your top 4 maybe top 2 to replace methot. Sothe value you presented isn't quite what I would want for a good shutdown dman in his prime. That's not to say bishop wont emerge Into a starter. Then the value evens out but we'd be taking on a lot of risk here.

If I were to consider moving smid to the senators id want zibenajad(that's just me though). But how much your organization loves him and how highly touted he is I don't see a deal really. Concussion and ahl performance aren't great factors right now for him tho so once again the oilers take on risk. Mainly the oilers trading smid makes us a worse team and once again hoping for the future. To be honest I don't see a trade between our two teams. Tough to get equal value and not create glaring holes in our lineups.
