Connolly is a really polarizing figure in recent Sabre lore. Personally while I do agree that putting together the right roster is more important than pleasing fans, I don't think the addition of Connolly gets them any closer to real tangible success, and it pisses off most of the fan base.

I think that there will continue to be a rash of players on waivers in the very near future and there will be better options to be had.

Logically the idea is not bad, but you have to ask if the bad press is worth the minimal gain. With Hecht back in the fold I cant imagine bring Connolly back is going to send the right message to the customer base. The honeymoon for Pegula will start to enter the phase when there need to be results. When free agents look at the Sabres next July you dont want them to think, business as usual in Buffalo. Sabres have done a nice job by getting rid of players from their core and acquiring a guy like Ott. No need to go in reverse now IMO by continually bringing back familiar faces.

it was more the logic, then the player

I am sure they could find a center that has wheels to fill that spot

I think if a team thought outside the box and came up with a 4th line that could get 20 goals in this condensed season, they could out coach a few teams and move up the standings, which should be the short term goal

I would not want that center to be on a contract longer then this season though

So what yer saying is that in this stage of the Pegula/Fans relationship even though you can still have hot sex every night you need to get used to hearing each other pass gas in the bathroom.. ??

I like the make up of what we have.

3 scoring lines. The first line is almost entirely of skill. The second line has a little bit of everything. The third line has a little bit of everything. Our 4th line needs work, but id like more sandpaper and less players like Connolly.

Its a shame Tropp got injured. I really liked what he brought to the team. Tropp - Hecht - Kaleta wouldve been a good checking line that could still produce.

- theblueandgold

a tropp, hecht, kaleta line would have worked perfect

he has the wheels to play 15 minutes per game

What I think: There is absolutely no reason to bring back Tim Connolly. If they're desperate for underachieving centers, they have only to wait a week.

it fits under the cap going by the moves I suggested

do you think that lineup gives this team a better chance to make it to the post season

a simple yes or no works

the sabres have no long term plans for hecht, or regehr as it is

- homiedclown

At least we would have a top PK unit with Kaleta, Connolly and Hecht.
