Although I think Leopold is slightly better than Sekera I think that it makes more sense to move Leo. He is UFA after this season, meaning teams wouldn't have to worry about him affecting their overall salary in the following season. I think you would have a better chance of finding trading partners for that reason, and the fact that he is a veteran that shows leadership qualities.
A lot of people here have it bad for Sekera, and I understand why. I think his d-zone mistakes get blown way out of proportion on this site. He is younger than Leo and has a contract for the next couple years. He has shown improved play at the end of last season and was lights out in international play and during the lockout. Sekera also can be extremely effective in matching up with speedy players on other teams. Ehrhoff is the only other fast D-man on our team right now.
We should trade Leopold, not Sekera. |
