Oduya on the 2nd pair. - JoeHawks88
Don't get the joke. Did you watch him play last year? He can easily hold down a #4 position. Fell apart in the playoffs but fit into the system nicely last year otherwise. |

I'd sit Saad before Fro...defending on who's playing better at the time...hoping for a solid year from 67. - philco28
Actually pulling for him philco. He is a PROVEN producer and came up big TWICE in the playoffs last year. |

Oduya sucks dude. He isn't a 2nd pair d-man.
You're severely high if you think he is. |

I think very few people will agree with you that Oduya is below a #4 dman. He has quality skating, handling, first pass, and vision. Not a physical guy but not all of them out there are. Easily a #4 dman in the league today.
The playoffs left a bad taste in a lot of people's mouths. Hopefully he returns to his regular season form. |

Fro skates like the wind and has both a great motor and a great desire to involve himself. Wish he shot the puck better because his speed creates so many chances...but he is what he is.

Good to know the Hawks are just handing guys like Saad roster spots.
- JoeHawks88
Mild surprised and disturbed about that, despite my earlier post. Still, I'd take him over Gomez. |

I'd love to get more out of Frolik too, in a perfect world he'd be an ideal 3rd line winger. But for whatever reason it's just not happening for him in Chicago, but lets hope (but not hold our breath) that he turns things around this season. |

Turco becoming a TV analyst for Dallas. I wonder if he'll make any bets on air. |

Putting Saad on the first line any time soon would be a mistake on the ice and in the dressing room. Period.
HUGE MISTAKE, unless he comes out of nowhere and really lights it up, which there is ZERO evidence he will do right now against the top players of the L.A. Kings and 24-25 oither NHl franchises.
'You want to lose a dressing room? Put the GM/front office's pet in above NHL veterans who have produced more as pros than Saad has. McDonough is none too popular in the dressing room already for meddling. - John Jaeckel
Not having Bollig or Carcillo on a line with Toews and Hossa at this point would be ludicrous in general. The concussion brothers need someone with a short fuse who will at least go nutzo on anyone who does anything stupid. |

I'm Carcillo will start on the 1st line, especially for the opening weekend. |

A blog on the performance of Stan Bowman? Don't you have to do something before you can be deemed to have "performed"? There are dead guys getting more done than SB, and exhibiting more personality while doing so. Outta be a real short blog. - Hal9000y2k
I love this post.
Maybe the blog will just be a photo of a prematurely balding man fishing around in a couple of garbage cans with an important grey hired gentleman dressed up in One Goal golf shirt supervising him. |

Having Saad in the lineup gives us a player to send down without having to clear waivers. --Just in case we bring in someone new via trade, waivers, or UFA. |

Why are people all of the sudden shocked that Brandon Saad made the big club? Did everyone forget that he saw some time in the Phoenix series last year? |

Again, from a possible "lightning in a bottle" perspective, the move makes some sense: lefty centerman, has been a top 6 guy, pure setup guy, great speed. Play him with Hossa. They might click.
His defense blows, that is one huge downside. - John Jaeckel
He spent some time during the lockout playing for the Anchorage Aces and was a healthy scratch a few times. Need more be said? |

Yep, mostly on the pine

Saad making the team is weird. How many people on the roster do they have and how realistically does he fit in anywhere?
Unless a wing player is moving somewhere else or getting bought out.
Think the Hawks will have a good year but wow. Strange things a foot at the Circle K. |
