One more twitter additions to waiver list:

Aaron Portzline ‏@Aportzline
#CBJ cuts are C Boone Jenner and D Tim Erixon.

Jenner was supposed to be a little terror on the lower lines. How far has Erixon's stock fallen? Cgy--->Rangers----CBS---->waivers?

i think those are cuts as in "reassignments" not waivers

Both of Calgary's backups are on the waiver wire? Wouldn't mind Dowell back in Chicago and Pardy intrigues me. 2 more years at a $1.1 cap hit

Looks like Minny signed Dowell and used him to attract Parise (I think they played together before). Now they're cutting him loose. I don't see a spot for Dowell on the roster anymore.

Irving/Pardy? Can you give us a position?

You are referring to the waiver list right?

Not surprised by Hayes & Pirri going back to the Hogs. Stanton going back and what being reported concern Montador's health hints at something is up.

I think it remains to be seen if they do, or don't, have glaring holes.

I would put my money however on a couple of areas that were holes last year being holes this year. Because nothing has been done to change them.

I will say you are in the minority, not just here, but really throughout the fanbase as far as blind optimism.

And I also think a lot of the posters here would lead the parade for Stanley and the front office if all the dominoes fall the right way—and the lack of moves ends up being the right strategy.

- John Jaeckel

Hawks needed defensive depth and "sandpaper" I think both were addressed in the offseason with Rozy and Brooks as well as carcillo and shaw.. The only glaring weaknesses left are 2c and in goal. I dont mind giving young guys a shot from the prospects we got from the 2011 firesale for the 2c, That or giving Bolly a shot, Sharpie playing C (because he's payed enough to not have a choice). This year if Crow falters give Emery a shot. If neither can handle it you move forward and try to have a plan B. I think Hutton might actually get a shot if there is an injury.

Other than that, start getting a lil more desperate once the Kane and Toews contracts get close to expiring.. Patience is not a bad thing.. itchy trigger fingers on trades is worse.

Hey, if it does nothing more than keep the pilot light lit under Stalberg and Bickell, it's a good thing.

First - if Gomez was any good, he would have more than one team interested.
He is done in my opinion but crazier theings have happened.
The Morrison signing "fit" because of the injuries and because he was an offensive generator most of his career. Gomez hasn't spent much time as pp guy in awhile.

I have four thoughts on the Hawk lines.

Everyone must be able to play with everyone and move around positionally, and in the course of a game or run of games, players get switched.

1. By throwing Bolland in a offensive role, you want two potent lines that the opposition must contend with. Is there an underlying factor or reasoning?

We can surmise it might be connected to these thoughts:

a. Throw all the chips in the pot.
They understand Bolland's past medical issues as Toews, but also understand the importance early to win. Don't worry about the what if Bolland get injured until it happens...

b. and there may just be a target at centre to bolster the position.
If they were to acquire a Zack Smith type or at the deadline Getzlaf, they get flexibility down the middle. This is easy said that accomplished.

2. I don't think this has ever been an emergency get "Matt Lombardi OR anybody" issue that they are gonna try and solve with medicore players.
Kruger can play in the 2nd - 4th lines at centre or wing. Is he going to hurt them on the ice? I really don't think so.

3. They will use Shaw, Saad, or even Hayes,Frolik (if they make final cuts)until they are convinced that the lack of "that player" is the reason they are losing.

a. Most likely the job is Brandon Pirri's to win, but it will not be handed to him.
I don't necessarily mean now, but as the fill that ends up as all else fails. He has really come on, gotten stronger, and I really think, imo, that if he played with major league wingers he makes that jump. He is a true centre and the history of this sport has always been to bring in minor league guys and force them to fill roles that may be challenging for them at this point. That is how they gauge their progress, and the player can build to get better through the call-up. Just saying. The reason you have a farm and develop players for this very reason. It doesn't matter what we think, but the players are under contract to help at the majors.

4. They know (as we know) none of the above solutions fit the fan obsession of a 2nd line centre whose scoring stats can be looked up in the top 100 players in the league. But the Hawks are not gonna going to sacrifice futures, unless they get a player that is longer term addition, and not a patch. Pro players of this ilk are not available on a daily basis, so you keep taking, waiting, because that is really all you can do.

Magic wishes don't make excellent major league centres available.

I haven't read through the string yet so I may be repeating, however, for the right price, I have no issue with adding Gomez to see what he's got. What I DO know is he's got something to prove and that he was good at one time. I've seen players reinvent their game and it's quite possible he could too. I'd rather see Stanbo spend "some" money to add a position we all know needs filling rather than watch him sit on his wallet.

Saw Adam pardy is on the waiver wire. Is he a subsitute for Monty? Not sure of his cap hit, but thought he actually plays a physical game. Q could make him a well rounded stick waiver

Tim Connolly was waived. Anyone prefer him over Gomez?
- golfbard

Say no to both.

Connelly has never been a complete player and I don't know if you get a full season from him....Bolland will play more games.

I hope they actually play Saad now, he should get top 6 minutes. If this can't happen then send him back to Rockford to play.
