Happens to me all the time at work. Microsoft thinks I don't know what country I live in... and thinks us Canadians don't use question marks.

OSX deals with the accent issue in an intelligent manner. One more reason to switch.

The permanent fix is to disable the key combination. There’s two ways to do this. Right click on the keyboard icon and left click Settings. Select the “Advanced Key Settings” tab. Click the “Change Key Sequence” button and select “not assigned”.
