see, i think this is an example of the mistakes he's made being overblown.
As for his countless dumb penalties... he was 6th in the league for ice-time, and 22nd in minor penalties.
Here are some of the guys I'm sure Leafs fans would love that take more: Subban(top in the league), Hartnell(2nd), Perry(3rd), Backes(5th), Ott(6th), Neal(10th), Malkin(16th), Clutterbuck(18th), Stamkos(19th), and he's tied with Byfuglien, who played far fewer games. Dubinsky and Lucic have 1 less each, in fewer games. In fact, none of these guys played more minutes than Phaneuf. - Feeling Glucky?
Ok, but you have to know those guys roles.
Out of all fo them, only Backes is a captain. Captains need to be held responsible for what they do.
Most of those guys produce way more )points wise) than Phaneuf too, which helps balance it out. Also, Ott and Clutterbuck are those types of players that can agitate a team. They take penalties firing up their team. Phaneuf takes stupid tripping and slashing calls. |

I guess you guys were absent for the whole Frattin = John Mitchell thing.
I need a conch shell to summon Atomic_Wedgie so he can understand what I am talking about.
Anyhow... anyone read the Siegel article about Franson? It seemed obvious that Wilson never communicated with his players but some of Fransons comments really drove that home. Franson said he made the mistake of not asking Wilson what he was doing wrong.... WHY THE HELL WOULDN'T THE COACH DO THAT IN THE FIRST PLACE!?! (frank) I am glad he is gone. |

Luongo trade in the works??
The Canucks may have found their 2nd line centre... - Pen15
I'm thinking the same thing. The Nucks are in dire need of centremen help. Connolly would actually be a good fit. Expiring contract.
Connolly and Colbourne.

who was it that though K. Ryan>Kadri?

Probably Nicky. He thought Kenny Ryan would be a 2nd line powerforward for the Leafs.. |

His hitting is just fine.
He's able to knock players like Malkin and Ovechkin off their feet. That is not an easy task.
His defense sucked because Ron Wilson's structure sucked. Wilson wanted a D rushing up the ice like a 4th forward. That's why Gunnarsson would be left on his own if there was a turnover. And since Wilson wanted to play a puck carry and possession game and not a dump and chase, it led to a lot of turnovers at the blue line.
His penalties are not that bad. 92 PIMS when he did have a few fighting majors and 10 minute misconducts in there. More often than not, he was called for roughing after the whistle (not a bad thing, unless you want him to just get punched in the face like the Sedins), tripping and hooking (due to being out of position because he was told to rush the puck) - ILoveLamp
Showing me one video of a hit doesn't really prove much. Like I said, he does have big hits, but people watch for it now, and its harder for him.
Yes, Wilson's system sucked, but lots of his screw ups were because of his lack of hockey IQ.
Regardless, I guess we'll see how he does this year with a defensive system in place. I really hope it improves his game. |

Tim Connolly not on the ice at Leafs practice. It's expected Connolly will be placed on waivers. More opportunity for players in system |

I still think that's an overpayment.
How about Connolly + Coyotes 3rd/4th round pick? |
