Im actually 50/50 regarding Luongo to Toronto, because I can appreciate both sides of the argument.

In 5 years? So 2018?

Here is what you get, and it aint pretty. This is why Luongo is a bad idea. Check out the link.

http://www.capgeek.com/bu...8&buyout_m=06&buyout_d=15

Not sure how accurate that is, so take it for what its worth.

Roberto Luongo buyout from CapGeek.com

◦2018-19: $2,534,667
◦2019-20: $4,298,667
◦2020-21: $4,916,667
◦2021-22: $4,916,667
◦2022-23: $583,333
◦2023-24: $583,333
◦2024-25: $583,333
◦2025-26: $583,333

Yeah...three years at 5M aint pretty. I suppose the only way it makes sense is if he could provide around 7 years of hockey...then it could be manageable.

Not at all if you could read you would see I said Orr would have to make it on merit. A defensively sound forecheck that can bang in the offensive zone for a bit so the Kessel line can swoop in and take advantage

But no you're right having our number 1 defenseman fight our battles which he can't even do well is a smart plan.

What people dont understand is yes his contract is bad, but think about it, hes 33 right now, hed be good for about 4-5 years. Once he turns 38 his contract goes down to 3M, then 1.5 the next, then the final 2 years 1M. Are you telling me having him as a backup goaltender or have him retire around that time is a bad thing? Or even to buy out his cheap remaining contract? Its not that bad

Cap hit, not salary. I dont care what he gets paid. And if he retires, there is a cap hit for that too.

Is 4-5 bad years worth 4-5 decent years?

Yea its that bad. You should see the numbers.

The one and crucial negative would be the cap hit. Money? It's a non issue for the leafs... But cap space?

That's best case scenario. Also assuming we give up little long term value. Can't win a Cup with Vancouver how could he ever in Toronto?

What happens if he's decidedly very mediocre next year. Sorry if .919 on a Presidents Trophy winner isnt that remarkable. Is it an improvement? Absolutely. Is it the right move long term is much less clear.

Or he magically develops a chronic groin issue and has to rehab at his summer house in Florida all year and sits on LTIR. Him, Hossa, Z, Vinny, Weber, DP, Richards, Chara, Parise, Suter, Ehrhoff and Kovalchuk will just be snapchatting away like crazy with pics of their "injuries".

I want to see kadri centering the first line....

Kessel Kadri Lupul

JVR Grabo Mac

Frattin ___?(Connolly)___ Kulemin (put the ? for the possibility of bozak being traded)

Brown Steckel Mcclement

- Mapleleafs_91

Scores 3 goals in intra-scrimmage game. 1st line center.

except, tool and I just proved that buying him out in 6 or less years might not be wise. He would need to provide 4-5 years of starter material and 1-2 years of backup. Not so sure hes got it in him....but...I dont really know the guy.

He's still a terrific goaltender and if the Canucks could muster more than like 1.33 goals a game in the playoffs their last 2 series this conversation would've even be a thing.

I dont base it off his 3 goals. Kadri is primarily a setter. He is known to set the play not score goals as often. He is better as a setter. If you place kadri in between kessel and lupul. I can guarantee you, he will put the same amount of points or better than what bozak has done. He will guaranteed rack those assists up

heres my ultimate leafs lineup, theyd of course have to trade for some of these players

tootoo-rosehill-orr
scott-avery-parros
carcillo-janssen-torres
gilles-konopka-cooke

if we got all these guys on one team, they would beat the hell out of the other team and score a ton of goals

I think the last time Kadri passed the puck was 1983.
