Canada-
33% of Canadians identify themselves as Canadian born etc..
21% English
15% French
15% Scottish
13% Irish
10% German
4% Italian
4% Chinease

Africans? Not on the list. Although the list is a little confusing... 783,000 black canadians...

- Flyersgod

Yes, Canada has less people of African origin than the US of A.

Could be due to the fact we really didn't go for that free ship ride and employment program that seemed to convince a lot of Africans to come to America.

Of course, we managed to steal a few by shipping them via a railroad. But it was pretty hard to find, what with being underground and all...

So who determines what we need? You?
- Flyersgod

No I shouldn't decide but maybe we should let the parents, grandparents, brothers and sisters of innocent victims decide.

HMMMM cause they are a class organization. Great ownership, great GM, great coaching, two of the best forward in the world & a world class goalie. They are contenders every year.
- GCHonda

Contenders, not favorites. They have no wingers, and a soft defense. Philly exploited their weaknesses and they were not addressed. I don't see them as favorites.

Sometimes the better teams don't win it all. If i were a betting man i would bet that that wouldn't happen agian this year. Crosby and Malkin are far and away better than anyone on Phillys roster. Giroux is a stud but he isn't nearly as good as geno or sid.

I find it funny how liberal you guys are up there.

See, this is the problem....most people turn this into a "quit telling me what to do" or "quit attacking my rights and freedoms" conversation. It's not about that, it's about less mass murders.
- The-O-G

No, it is about that. We are a free people. Why is that hard to grasp?

We don't live in Canada. America isn't Canada. Stop thinking your laws would work here because they work there.

I hate that above all else. Almost as much as british people saying they're safer now without them... meanwhile gun violence is up 87% in the UK since their stiffining of gun control..

- Flyersgod

allright, educate me.. for i am an ignorant non american.

firearm related deaths per capita.. a few notables

mexico - 25.14
united states - 10.2
south africa - 9.41
france - 3.00
canada - 2.13
sweden - 1.47
germany - 1.10
uk - 0.25
japan - 0.07

so fill me in, because i'm obviously missing a few things. it's not the gun laws? which one of those other bottom 6 countries can you buy freaking over the counter ak-47's from again?

i am clearly uninformed.

What about the Newtown shooting? Those guns were legal!

Here's my argument.....nobody needs to own a semi or fully automatic military style assault rifle. They serve no purpose other that making people feel bad ass because they own them. These weapons are designed for one reason and one reason only, to kill people, lots of them, in a short period of time. These weapons are also often used in mass murders. So why doesn't the argument stop here and the ban begin? Nobody will be any worse for wear without them, and if it prevents even ONE mass murder, it's worth it.

We all understand that people are killed by other means, and these issues should be looked at as well, just not in the same breath. For example: Car crashes. The will always happen, but we also need to drive. But this example is apples to oranges because cars are not designed and built for the sole intention of killing people.

It's also worth noting mental health needs more attention. it's definitely not a case of "remove the guns and nobody will be murdered". But it will happen less.

- The-O-G

The Newtown kid should've been in a psych ward. The mom tried to get him help, but the system failed(as usual). in the 80's mom would've said kid needs help and observation, boom committed. Bleeding hearts stopped that process so we have a bunch of loonies running around out there. That's a huge problem nobody wants to admit. Next week we'll read about someone who ate their family and try to figure out why. Nuts need to be locked away.

I'm OK with limiting Automatic weapons, but there needs to be serious punishment for illegal gun owners. 10 years 1st offense. No beating around the bush.

I find it depressing how delusional SOME folks are down there. Canada isn't a euphoric state by any means. But common sense is practiced more than in America.

They certainly have all of the pieces. Goaltending, mobile defense, and tons of star forwards. It will be interesting to see if they can make it happen.

Such a terrible argument. You are assuming gun control would work. There are 200 million guns in america. Do you think criminals will abide by the law and start using other weapons to murder?

We have a right to bare arms. End of discussion. Dont like it? Dont move here. You cant stop evil by making a law. Hammers and baseball bats kill more americans a year then guns. Do we ban them next?

I'd still kept him over Connely, I like Lombardi's speed but he's too inconsistent anyways. Hopefully this is the beginning of Nonis getting rid of the dead wood.
