The NRA serves no real purpose other than to sell guns to people. That ad they released is as about as stupid and ignorant as anything i have ever seen on TV. Your rant has no basis in reality. More people were stabbed to death in the US than killed by guns. FACT. Most gun violence in the US occurs in the cities with the strictest gun control laws i.e. Chicago, LA, NY. FACT. Gun crimes in areas were more people are licensed gun owners and more people carry legal weapons are very low. FACT.

The simple fact of the matter is that once again Government has created the problem. The kid that just killed all these children was nuts and should've been involuntarily committed. However, back in the 80's it became very difficult to involuntarily commit 'insane' people do to new regulations. The highest percentage of homeless people out there used to be in institutions.
