The 2nd amendment would still be the 2nd amendment if the NRA was gone. I'm a card carrying member, but they go out of their way to alienate the moral majority. If they weren't so "in your face" about everything, people wouldn't hate them so much.

I think people would be more comfortable with your second amendment if the NRA wasn't making iPad shooting games for children, pushing hard for concealed weapons in bars and schools, and suggesting that the only solution to gun violence is universal gun ownership. The positions they take are seen as childish and absurd; saying that you're protecting an existing law is not the same thing as seeking rapid, extreme expansion of its' terms.
