Every country is unique. Some of the countries you are comparing us to could fit neatly inside a single state. Things get harder as they get bigger. Its like the people that say socialized medicine works in Canada and therefore should work in the USA. We have a population that "per capita" is amongst the richest in the world. The third world countries you compare us to cant even afford rice to feed their starving children, so i would assume owning a firearm is a low priority. People throw around cooked numbers and think they understand the problem, and can solve it with weak laws. The problem runs so much deeper and all the numbers in the world won't change that.

i would argue that the US being huddled in the same group as countries where people are killing each other for food.. is an issue.

i'd be interested in the numbers, but i'm gonna go out on a limb and suggest that on the "per capita" list, citizens of the UK, france, sweden, and japan, aren't exactly to far lower than the US in terms of wealth. is wealth connected to firearm violence?

at the end of the day, you're right. i don't live there. it's not my problem to understand, or judge.

but i will stand by the mentality that the US being so far behind pretty much every other first world country on planet earth on basically every comparable stat belonging to firearms, indicates something isn't right.

There is really no point debating this. There will be minimal changes that actually have a chance passing congress. Also, gun sales will go through the roof to start off the year. Which im sure was the intended outcome of this.

If you normalized those developed countries to compensate for existing gun laws I bet it would be a lot closer than you think. But yes, its a different mindset different mentality in the US. Good or bad I think well always have our guns.
