If you read my full post , I said I feel the Islanders have more talent than both the Flyers and Devils to overcome their shortcomings.

Well, I disagree that they have more talent than the Flyers but I think they have more talent than the Devils.

My bet, regular season wise.

Penguins win the division. Flyers have a bit of a stumble with Bryzgalov and their defensive troubles and fall out of a playoff spot around 10th or 11th, but not by much. Rangers are okay through the season but come playoff time are seeded either 5 or 6th.

To me, it's hard to gauge what happens with the Isles and the Devils. Devils have so many question marks defensively. Isles could surprise as well, they have a good enough team. I'd say that one or the Devils or Isles makes the playoffs.

Defensively the Devils are way superior. Goaltending wise, you can play Brodeur and Hedberg's age against them, but I'd still pick them over the Isles goaltending. Offensively, the Devils are full of question marks but with a break out season from a guy like Butler and Tedenby or Josefson, their offense looks pretty formidable.

However, same could be said about Isles goaltending and defense.

those two goalie did that, but not playing a majority of the games like bryz will have too. but then again, this is a shortened season where he wont play as many games.

but i just think that a team who focuses so much on offense, will lack defense. my team is like that. we are a run-and-gun team and we score a lot of goals, but we also give up tons. our goalies stats are atrocious, but they actually play well for us

- TylerSeguin19

Bryz plays better if he gets the majority of the workload.

Goalie stats will never be pretty in Philly but I think with the shorter year Bryz could post a .917-.920 in 38-40 games (barring injury). If it was a full season (60-65 games for Bryz), I'd probably put that number around his career mark of .915

Is bryz even aware that hockey is back? I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't show up. He's probably lost somewhere.

This is some good analysis right here.

and then there's Bryz. If Bryz bounces back (and part if me believes he can as he will be playing not to be bought out) the Flyers will battle for tops in the NHL.
- Eklund

Maybe this is just me, but getting paid $22 million to leave Philly just doesn't seem like great motivation for a goalie.

It really boggles my mind to see very few picking the Canes to even make the playoffs.

I mean you people do realize they have the Staal brothers , a young very talented Skinner, a head case at times but very talented Semin not to mention Stanley Cup winning goaltender Cam Ward still stalking the crease for the Canes.

Come at my life if you wish with my picks but the Isles and Canes will both make the playoffs while the Bruins will scratch and claw (no pun intended) just to try and get 8th in my opinion. Rask is going to crash and burn!

I am looking for the Canes to make the Eastern Conference finals for sure.

The Islanders will be insignificant as usual!!! I guess when you say pound them all over the ice you mean a sucker punch from Martin and a blindside hit from Gillies because I remember the Pens winning the fights when they we're looking (Johnson, Godard, Dupuis, Vitale, Engellend, Rupp) The best part is that was the highlight of the Islanders last 20 years!!!

Not yet...this offseason if we bump against the cap. Bugsy is a needed piece for this year
- uf1910

hes going either way. with conacher making the team we have too many in the top 6 cuz connolly will be back next year and hes not playing on the 3rd line. throw in johnson and panik and killorn and theres just too many bodys. someone needing to get to the floor or have the space will take him or we buy him out.

I think Brodeur will make or break the season for them. If he can eek out one last hurrah then great for the Devils. I just can't see him doing it. I like their defense a lot though and if those young guys produce as does Kovy who knows what can happen? I still think losing Parise's production & leadership was a statistical & moral blow that they might not be able to overcome.
