Why are we not?

Who says so?

I'll believe it when I see it.

Cant see how the Flyers are with that goaltending and their lack of depth on defense , sorry.

- BuffaloHardHat

I don't know anymore. I was positive the Flyers were going to torch the Devils in the playoffs and I was wrong, an 8 seed won the cup. For all we know Cody is a stud, Miller has a vezina year, Myers turns into a norris trophy candidate, and Ennis stays healthy. There's too many if's to call us a solid contender, but im not ruling us out of the playoffs

ask 100 people that write for the NHL to list 4 teams that could be playing for the cup out of the east

when that list is done, count the flyer votes, and the sabres votes

- homiedclown

And they know more then people like me that have watched this game for 45 years?

I never listen to what the "experts" say.

That poop and most of them are a joke

All I have to do is look at the Flyers roster and know they can very well have some problems this year as well as the Bruins . Both teams in the exact same areas.

Sabres are not weak on defense and I already have said Jhonas will be my unsung hero this season and hopefully Miller plays like how we all know Miller can . Defense and strong goaltending will be a must this year of 'spint to the Cup'. I fully expect Bryz to be the same ol same ol with crappy defense in front of him and the Flyers offense 1st mentality.

The Bruins are thin on quality defense as well. They have a rookie starting in their top 6 and not much after that. Not to mention I fully expect Rask to crash and burn this year without Timmy with him!

Just my 2 cents.

My teams to watch in the East nobody seems to be talking enough about is Carolina and Tampa Bay.

Carolina has the Staal brothers, Joel Skinner and the always solid Cam Ward stalking the crease.

Tampa has more talent than any team out there and if Lindbach plays well enough, lookout Eastern conference.

edit: I forgot to type in Semin as well for Carolina. Anyone that overlooks Carolina is foolish!

I've never heard of Joel Skinner. And Cam Ward is only good in the playoffs. He's a very average goalie otherwise. Their defense isn't all that great so unless he's stellar or the offense scores 4 or more a night, they'll struggle to make the playoffs.

Because that's the point of coming on the message board? To debate all things hockey. If you don't agree, say why.

If they sign Mike Weber when he's put on waivers, that will probably put them over the top. You know, his skating is much improved. Lightning-like.

If the story I have heard from several different places is correct, then Quinn is the reason Drury isn't here. At the beginning of his last season, they had a contract worked out. Quinn said he wanted to sit on it a bit and have someone else look it over, and that put a bad taste in Drury's mouth. He said forget it.

The rest is history.

Who knows how true it is, but since it's Larry Quinn involved, I wouldn't be surprised.

The problem with Ward is like Miller he gets overused. They are in the same group of NHL goaltenders with being in the 11-20 range.

yep

stars are rolling 3 goalies with the short season

then again I expect 7th-13th in the east for this season

it's sad because there is no reason they can't compete for the division yet history shows otherwise
