Larry Quinn set this franchise back not once but twice.
- dadeadhead

I will agree .....darcy had to even draft differently due to restraints he had cuz of quinn / golisano.

The problem with Ward is like Miller he gets overused. They are in the same group of NHL goaltenders with being in the 11-20 range.

If given the choice though, I still take Miller over Ward. I know Ward has a Stanley Cup, but for those that criticize that Miller's not very good, Ward is even more average. And he makes more per year.

Thanks. I'll pass.

yep

stars are rolling 3 goalies with the short season

then again I expect 7th-13th in the east for this season

it's sad because there is no reason they can't compete for the division yet history shows otherwise

I am about 99% sure we'll finish higher than the Leafs though.

look at the first 3 picks in each draft
2004
rw, D, D

2005
zags, lw, d

2006
D, G, D

2007
D, D, RW

when was darcy preparing for the cap era and losing centers?

IMO Ward does more with less. He gets peppered year in and year out. Ward has faced 766 more shots over the last two years but does have 15 more gp in that time frame. Carolina has zero faith in the backup much like Lindy has in the past.

I didn't think about that until the other day. I was talking to my sister and it dawned on me. All I could really think of as a reaction though was "Sucks to be them"

ward has had to deal with, over the last 4 years, what Biron had to deal with for the first few post Hasek years IMO

His play still doesn't constitute his pay. Just like Miller's. Neither of them is getting paid on par with their performance.

Never said it did. Just saying he takes more of a beating on a game to game basis. It's also why the 11-20 range are interchangeable IMO. A case can be made for any of them to be 11 or 20.
