They matched it because 5 - 1st round picks from a Flyers team that always makes the playoffs isn't worth that much.
- Maxbone

If you were talking Taylor Hall + Klefbom + a 1st (either this year or next), I'd agree with you but you gotta be kidding if you think the trade you proposed would land EDM Weber.

You should just stop writing. You have shown time and time again that you have no intelligence when suggesting possible deals. IF, Weber was to be traded to Edmonton, you could guarantee that that one of the big four would be going the other way. Weber has a ton of trade value and though I highly doubt he will be leaving Nashville, if he did there would be a lot coming back to them.

Maybe before you post you should have someone proof it. Not for spelling or grammatical errors but for a total lack of proper judgement of teams' and players' own desires.

Speculation is fine and often entertaining, but this and many other blogs you have written are completely ridiculous.

I'm enjoying reading these messages. People are losing their minds.

Because you are given the responsibility to do something (i imagine) alot of people would love to do. Yet, for the most part, you piss the opportunity away, with stiff like this. Here's a question for you. For D prospects not playing in the NHL, are there any/many you rate above Kelfblom?

Worth more than Hemsky, Klef and 2 late first round picks.

No, he really isn't. He's good, don't get me wrong.
- Maxbone

In your opinion he has more POTENTIAL than Gardiner (which is incorrect) but he isn't better than a player who put up 30pts in the NHL in his first year.
Gardiner is better than Schultz as of now as well, until he can prove he can perform at the NHL level.

I am thinking they also matched it as well to save face. When you state publicly like dumb ass Poille did that you will match ANY offer given to your player you kind of put yourself between a rock and a hard place.

But can/would half the league offer a stack of young talent including an elite defensive prospect?
- Maxbone

What young talent? Hemsky and 2 late first-round picks? Yes, half the league could do that. Klefbom is a nice prospect (what with his dazzling offensive production this year), but Shea Weber is a perennial Norris candidate, not the mention his team's captain.
And again: WHY WOULD NASHVILLE BE COMFORTABLE PAYING HIM $25 MILLION FOR 48 GAMES, AND THEN DUMP HIM BECAUSE THEY'RE NOT COMFORTABLE PAYING HIM $14 MILLION FOR SUBSEQUENT SEASONS?

that's why you work out a deal with the team and take back prospects. You don't have to take the 5 picks as compensation.

You're still implying that an oilers team with the additions of Schultz, yakupov, and Shea weber.. Would be able to provide draft picks that were way better than Philly's. that's debateable at best.

You should change your name to something less humorous so that maybe we will take your posts and opinions seriously. You do know that JVR is on Toronto now? If this is breaking news to you WOW!!!

No, not really. Let me think...

Seth Jones is a better prospect, but he's not drafted yet. Brandon Gormley is a prospect I think very highly of, so there's him. From what I saw of Jacob Trouba at the WJC, I might put him at the top list.

There's plenty of "big names" I'd rank lower than Klefbom as a prospect: Hamilton, Rielly, Gardiner, Murray, Brodin...

So if you include Jones in the list, there's three defensive prospects I'd rank higher than Klefbom, and in saying that, I suggest Gormley and Klefbom are about equal in quality.

There's not a chance the Oilers would give up Eberle...let's just start there.

- Maxbone

And in the same breath, there is no chance the Preds give up Weber, so let's just finish there.

LOL...I mean, wow.

Klefbom is better than Gardiner and most likely better than Rielly. He's huge and a more complete defenseman. Rielly is an offensive machine but there are many questions about his defensive play. Same could be said about Gardiner, who is Justin Schultz-lite.

You can't compare Kadri to Hemsky at all. One is a player stuck in the minors and whom many consider a failed prospect. The other is a guy who can score 70pts in a season when healthy. One immediately makes the Preds 1st line and helps them, the other may never play a full season in the NHL. No comparison here.

Leafs 1st round picks would undoubtedly be better than the Oilers ones, but let me ask you how things worked out the last time the Leafs dealt 1st round picks? Do you think the organization can stomach a move like this again? Would you take Kessel over Seguin + Hamilton?
