As in a BIG man. I would not be averse to him making the team as "lead negotiator".
- MBFlyerfan

it's a shame he can't fight

Shelley is past his prime...but other than him, i see a lot of willingness but not a lot of effectiveness in the "negotiation" dept.

BUT, as we all "KNOW" from the playoffs a few years ago...getting decimated in a fight can spark your team to score 2 goals and win the game, right!?

I would venture to guess that he WILL play. The way they are running him through regular reps and, on a daily basis, second power play unit point work leads me to think he will start come Saturday.

Would it be with reduced minutes to start?

Coburn and I couldn't quite tell since they were on the far end. I THOUGHT it was Schenn or Mezzy.
- MBFlyerfan

I would think that Timonen is going to be on the first PP unit with Giroux.

My thoughts on Chip are, if he's going to succeed. Howie better get some players in here.

It's going to interesting to watch, either way. I agree with those who feel it's a bust or boom proposition. But if he fails it will be a spectacular one.

"it is the confidence and demeanor with which he speaks."
A key ingredient to the captaincy no doubt.

I think where the real divide is, is in the Flyers front office. If everyone remember's, when the Flyers removed Stevens, Holmgren wanted a Coach and a style of play that "hunts the puck"! Well he got that in Laviolette. Now just a few Season later, they want to put the reins on that a little, and play more conservatively. Seems as though they can't make up their mind. They need to identify a course, and stick to it. And build the team along that style of play. The inconsistency is coming from upstairs.
- MJL

I don't know if its about making up their mind or finding a happy medium.

KC will take Jockel....this clown will take Geno Smith

I wanted nothing to do with Kelly

- KINGKENZO

smith may be the eagles qb next year, but not geno. i think the draft pick will be joeckel or milliner

Look more for Milliner unless a team in dire need wants a QB don't at this point expect a QB in round 1.

Also people need to keep in mind Foles ran a somewhat fast passed spread offense at Arizona so the concepts of Kelly's offense wont be difficult for him to manage.

Have a ? Re the buyouts.....if we buy out briere for 2/3 of his remaining 5m(3+2) over the summer....can we resign at the 1/3 around 1.7 m plus a little extra for his trouble say 2m....now he get his full contract plus .6m and the flyers pickup 4.5m in cap space........but the ? Is can we resign the player we buyout?

I'm not sure I understand all the math you did there, but a compliance buyout next summer would absolve the Flyers of the cap hit entirely. I'm not sure how the cash calculates out, but I don't think the Flyers are too worried about that. As for whether they could turn around and sign him to another contract, I don't believe they can.

EDIT: I think I get what you're saying, but I don't think a bought out player can sign with the same team. I get a feeling even if they could, it'd be investigated as a matter of cap circumvention.

i agree, i find it tough to imagine joeckel making it to 4, but who knows goofy things happen

and i wouldn't be stunned if foles is still the qb for the short-term. i think that's more likely than geno smith being the qb

Chiefs can grab the LT and then in round 2 grab a Mike Glennon who is the top rated QB at the moment

ha really? that's a bit surprising to me. i guess scouts just like his size? strange year for qbs. don't know exactly where he'll fall, but my money is on smith being the first to go

Players who are bought out under the compliance buy out can not play for the team that bought them out for one year. So if they buy out Briere, they can't re-sign him, trade for him or even claim him off waivers for the entire 2013-14 season
