I don't get it. We bought him out. I doubt they thought for long that he may help a competitor so ummed and aaargghd over it. Buy out Gomez. He's proper junk. Don't worry if he may help someone else or not. I would hazard a guess he won't. - walshyleafsfan1

By not reduce the cap hit of buying out a player, instead of buying out the players (which they have to do before saturday and that makes the player a FA RIGHT AWAY) teams might try to waive them... - number_23
This makes no sense even by your standards.... please reboot and try again. |

Just an example: with Kesler out for who knows how long, Gomez would be exactly the player to keep the Canucks' second line productive. He is, after all, mainly a passer not a scorer -- which is exactly what their 2nd line needs.
It's not likely to happen. Just an example of how Gomez could help a team. Personally, I think he was completely mis-used by the Habs (aside from the other problems). |

That would be it for me, they would get no games next year and I would burn my Chinese Plekanec jersey. |

sigh
regardless, with EE being wrong and the team actually saving the $900k with the buyout anyways, it's a moot point. Only reason not to do it now is to be spiteful. |

How many players do the Habs have under contract?
50 is the limit.....buying out Gomez now might allow them to sign Kristo once his season is over and that will make Pecafanfan VERY happy. - Symba007
46...45 if you remove Gomez |

So you consider last season a 'normal' one for him, do you? He's had a number of seasons with over 50 assists. Why not use them as a reference point? Likely it would be somewhere between the two, of course. Maybe I'm just a-wasting my time responding to flippancy. See ya. |

Eric Engels: Will the Canadiens buy out Gomez now? - EricEngels
with all due respect, engels i don't understand the purpose of this blog. did you have a few minutes to spare while you were on the can? you should have left the last one up. it was much better and actually had some substance to it. if there is nothing to gain buying gomez out now, why do it? the nhl is so rinky-dink. |
