I wish he'd sign 2 years 6ish and THEN get the years and the $$$$$$
- braidan

That would be normal course of action had PK not been forced to play #1 minutes for 2 straight years before reaching 23.

What has PK ever done for anyone to think he's better than Del Zotto?

This is a serious question. I read this all over the place yesterday also. Not really a shot at PK but MDZ is a pretty damn good D man.

- stormey

PKis our savior and he's got moves.

That alone is worth 6+ for at least 10 years.

uhhhh chances are the contract he signs will cover next year too.
Again, I have no problem waiting him out, but that might push him out the door

- braidan

well, it kinda looks like he wants out. his demands make no sense.

He eats up a lot of minutes, plays a more physical game than Del Zotto, is a pest and has better offensive upside.

MDZ is indeed awesome, but he gets to be humbled by the presence of Staal, Girardi and Mcdonagh who are all better.

I'd give a slight edge to PK defensively and physically. Offensively, pretty much the same.

they're pretty close stats wise. I guess PK held a no.1 spot (by default really) but should do so for a while.

I don't think they're miles apart though to be honest.

Stick PK on that Rags team and then look at his offensive #s.

the same logic that says Jake Gardiner is one of the best young defencemen in the game. how do you still not understand how this works?

Ya I wouldn't say miles at all. PK earned that#1 by being the best of a mediocre bunch. I know if they hadn't traded Spacek things may have been different..oh well.

Maybe, but so far, as far as results go, they are pretty much the same in that aspect.

The Rangers aren't a high scoring team. They scored only 15 more than Montreal last year.

League's gonna be in trouble when he starts feeding top power forward Carter Ashton on the PP

Stick MDZ on the Habs and watch him play 25 minutes a night and demand 6mil?

He eats more minutes by necessity.
Being a pest isn't always a good thing. It can be distracting to a team.
Better offensive upside....very debatable. MDZ is a year younger and has a 40 point season.

Physical...ok. I don't really see enough of MDZ to comment on his physicallity but from what I saw in the playoffs last year, the kid is a horse and will only get better.

If Bergevin gets this feeling I hope he trades him and not hold out hope.
What will the dressing room be like when the other important players all took a bridge contract.

I guess the options are

wait until RFA market sets his value

wait until the level of team suckage is determined thereby either increasing it or decreasing it

better all around than Del Zotto but not as good as Doughty

Agreed, and is it really a stretch to see PK compete for a Norris one day?
