EVERYONE has a price tag. EVERYONE is tradable. That is a fact. Look at all the great players way more talented than lehner that have been traded if you need proof. If SB doesn't pry a goalie out of Ottawa then someone else will and SB will have missed another opportunity. Face it.. Ottawa can't play 3 goalies at once. Wasn't bishop traded to Ottawa for a 2nd round pick... Why wasn't Stan in on that originally and if he was then why did he lose out on the trade negotiations, again?
- moylander

Can't remember but sounds right. Anyway I think that's the frustrating thing as you watch some of these trades go down, whether to start the season or at the deadline, is that some of these guys are available for a 2nd or 3rd round pick. Didn't Fistric go for a 3rd round pick yesterday? I'm not advocating trading all our picks but you see these trades happen and wonder why couldn't we have done that?

Oh and the goal he got on Mike Smith in the playoffs was a nice shot too.
- John Jaeckel

The goal he got on Mike Smith in the playoffs was when the cat got out of the bag on Bollig's shot. The players were all like, yeah, he has the best shot on the team. we have known this for a while, where have you been?

Teams do not have to trade with teams they do not. Like teams in a division will not trade with each other. You do not help your enemies. Like why Stan traded players to Atlanta and Florida back in 2010.

So St. Louis would not have moved Bishop to Hawks for a variety of reasons.

While a lot of fans want to see results, that is SB obtaining a goalie from Ottawa, you can't assume that Ottawa is in any hurry to move any of them. JJ confirmed talks and offers. If indeed Leddy was offered up, that is significant.

If you recall, a couple of years ago Stanley was able to pry the great Hannu Toivonen out of division arch-enemy St.Louis Blues for some block of road salt he at one time overvalued.

It stands out to me because thats the type of trade the daring Mr. Bowman is comfortable making.

I would do Leddy for Lehner straight up. Not because I dislike Leddy. He is probably the best one suited to run the PP right now but sometimes you need to shake things up, rattle some cages and show you mean business.

Don't really dislike Crawford as a player either. I personally think he is "good enough" however I don't believe the past warrants a lot of trust. Best case scenario they have two good goalies and can use one for futures or other pieces. Worst case you have a good goalie and a competent back up.

Again, the trading market is not an open market up to highest bid all the time. There is strategy in moving players. You don't make moves with teams you are chasing quite often. I would not be surprised to find an ulterior motive in Fistric deal with him going home. Family etc plays a role. There are more professional courtesies than you can imagine.

The price for a player can change from team to team, both bid and ask.

JJ, Al and others, what is your opinion on the assets you offer for a Bishop vs Lehnar? Is there a difference? Additionally, is Zack Smith really available?

Fair enough, its funny, I saw Toivonen down here playing for Solar Bears in ECHL. That is a long way from NHL.

Would have preferred Arians. What is the word on Kromer?

good offensive coordinator in his own right, but his bread and butter was the o-line he built in New Orleans.

Brees almost never gets touched

No that's a fair point and I agree with you about Bishop and Fistric being traded out of the division/conference; was just picking them as guys that ended up being traded for picks. I believe we got Oduya for picks last year. I guess my point was that sometimes I'm surprised that it took less than I would have thought to acquire a particular player.

Would have preferred Arians as well...but Trestman is WHIP SMART and has earned a shot for this. Just hope he can keep the defense on a relatively upward trajectory.

I like Trestman, good QB guy, head coaching experience (and winning head coaching experience) in the CFL is equal to that in the NFL.

Saw somewhere that Saints had 7th best offensive line in protection last year, Bears were 24th. Been doing a lot of surfing so not sure where I saw it, but if true, then I am excited to see what the Offensive line looks like after the offseason. Hoping Albert lines up at LT

Looks like he is keeping the Defense in tact.

I really like his OC pick too

Plus - CFL is a pass-first league - need to get a lot of yards on first down.

But, as some "wag" said: need to watch out for too many 12-men on the field penalties, and too many false start penalties.

I'm not sure I would deal for ben Bishop assuming heis as good or better than Crawford. The production is not there overall and he has some flaws yet in his game.

If I could not get Lehner (which it appears the Hawks won't), the G asset in OTT (and maybe anywhere right now) I would look at is Craig Anderson, who I believe is a safe upgrade over Crawford.
