I really hope they just get this captaincy issue over with today as speculated. Of course then we'll have to hear about how they're "rushing" Giroux into a leadership role just like they "rushed" Richards. Blah blah blah totally different people, different players.

The Richards one irked methe most for the reasons you mention but it was a hockey trade and Homer showed a lot of balls making it. I'm actually glad that if we couln't win it all last year that Flyers west won it. So many deserving ex Flyers players finally got a cup ring.
- Hextall271

I agree, except I'm haunted by the fact that Jeff Carter scored the Stanley-Cup winning goal for the Kings, after he failed to bury the shot late in regulation in Game 6 for us. That vision, as well as the puck sliding under Leighton, are burned into my brain. Seeing them bothhappen in-person makes them a hard thing to think about.

I just wish in hindsight that they had obtained a young quality defenseman.
- MJL

Absolutely agree.. maybe Voynov.. I dont think either club really has any stand out d-prospects though..

I was more OK with the Carter trade. I liked Carter, felt he took unfair criticism in Philly, but was OK with the return.

I was also Ok with the Richards return, but he's a guy that has won at every level he's played at, and served as captain of most of those winning teams. It's hard to move a guy that has that track record.

I do like the guys they got. Brayden Schenn may well turn out to be an even better player than Richards. Simmonds showed he can succeed in a scoring line role and still provide toughness.

- Jsaquella

I agree with you on Carter. In a way I was actually more upset that we lost him than I was about seeing Richards leave. He was a pure goal scorer that the Flyers lacked/lack since Gagne started getting hurt more frequently & subsequently left.

Regardless, I would never have turned down a Couturier, Voracek, Cousins for Carter deal. The jury's still out on the Richards' deal. Love Schenn & the Wayne Train. Hopefully they make us forget about Richie soon.

What the heck Bill? I went against all my principles on Saturday and drafted Voracek (a rare Flyer on my team) solely because all the talk this summer was that he would play with Giroux. I feel slighted.

Not crazy about Voracek on the 3rd line. I'd rather see him with Giroux, or Briere when he comes back and is ready to play. I think Voracek has an offensive upside, and I think playing with Giroux would be good for him. But I understand the defensive reasons also. Good to have balance.
- MJL

From a raw talent standpoint, Voracek is easily our most talented winger but at the same time, you gotta have someone with natural scoring ability to play with someone like Giroux. At least this is what I believe. I don't feel you can compare Voracek to Jagr. Jagr is one of the all time greatest snipers and Voracek makes plays on the wing

Who knows? Maybe Hartsy, G & Schenn won't click & Jake will be on the top line again. Totally possible. Nothing's carved in stone!!!

He'll still justify be picked in the 8th round in a 14 person pool.

I think that is a stretch.. he is a supreme player... one of the best no doubt.. but I would never classify him as a sniper. Hell, he only cracked 50 goals 3 times in 19 seasons.

I understand the demand and could even tolerate at 10-15% hike. You can't justify doubling the price per ticket for every seat in the house.

$400 for 2 lower bowl tickets for an islanders or canes game. F that. Save my $$$ for the playoffs.

- PhillyLaFleur

I just go on stubhub at 5 pm for all the weekday games, and pay next to nothing for a ticket

thats a solid find in the 8th round of a 14 person pool.. lots of Pens fans? That would mean The Human Bat was picked... probably around the 5th round..

Thats what i used to do in the first half of the seasons.. but the second half the prices are usually around face value.. now the tickets are gonna go up even more.

This will be the first season since the lockout that I wasnt at the home opener.

Just saw that Panotch was told it is being considered on Thrusday now. Even better: make a fan fest out of the whole thing. Oi vey. Now the situation will be blown even further out of proportion!

There's lots of Pens fans in every hockey pool.

But yea, alot of my friends girlfriends/wives and people like so. Easy pickings.

It went:

1.Malkin
2.Crosby
3.Giroux

and then the rest was a poopshow.

I mean you can get flyers rangers tickets for thursday starting at 50 bucks, thats not bad at all considering they start at 80ish on the official website lol.

Plus all you have to do is wait till right before the game when people panic and lower their prices. I usually drive down and have my sister who lives 2 stops from the wac order the tickets at like 5:30-6 lol

I would imagine they need to do something to spice that event up.

Maybe it's because I've been to a bunch of practices in Voorhees, but I fail to see how this Thursday event is any great "Thank You" to the fans. You know, full well, they are going to charge normal game prices for concessions, etc.

How do you think Crosby is gonna do this year.. stay healthy and dominate? Not being an ass either.. just curious at what you guys expect.. I have some people in the Pens blog who have said they could see him putting up 80 points.. that is crazy talk... right?

Consider the era. Consider injuries. How many 40 goal seasons did he have? He wasn't 1 dimensional offensively, the hockey smarts to take plays was there too.
