Folks better have some solid proof, or at least provide some sort of link, before they start throwing the steroid stuff around. This is how garbage Internet rumors get going. Now someone on another site says something like, "I saw it around at other sites that he was using steroids."

Here is Kevin Allen's season preview on the Islanders:

NEW YORK ISLANDERS

2011-12 record: 34-37-11

Story line: The Islanders are trying to make the playoffs for the first time since 2007.

Analysis:

Since John Tavares arrived in 2009-10, the Islanders have seemed primed to make significant progress toward becoming contenders. But it hasn't happened. Even with P.A. Parenteau's offensive touch relocated to Denver, the Islanders have six players with full-season, 20-goal potential in Tavares, Kyle Okposo, Matt Moulson, Frans Nielsen, Josh Bailey and Michael Grabner, and now they have a wild card in newcomer Brad Boyes. Blue-chip prospect Ryan Strome, invited to training camp, has 62 points in 32 Ontario Hockey League games this season and played well for Team Canada in the world junior championships. The X factor will be the Islanders' defensive play. If captain Mark Streit, 35, has a strong season and offseason acquisition Lubomir Visnovsky returns from Slovakia to add more offensive punch, the Islanders could be among the five or six teams fighting for the eighth playoff spot.

Forecast: The Islanders quietly have put together a decent collection of young players. One day, we will wake up and they will be a power. Maybe that will happen by the time they move into Brooklyn's Barclays Center in 2015-16. But it won't happen this season.

Radek MArtinek injuries are not the same. He was never really big muscle wise and then nothing. Plus he consistently has the same injury. DPs knees went out his hops everything. When your on steroids first thing that usually goes are those injuries. I understand what you are saying but noone will say anything and wont until he is gone. there is a reasonw hy he cant stay healthy at all and why he cant move anymore. I saw DP at his best and then after the Sean Hill episode kind of weird everything spiraled down hill for DP
- kasperrko

to the steroid argument, A LOT of players take steroids to speed up the healing process. being that RDP has only started 47 games in the last four NHL seasons combined, might be proof that he in fact ISNT taking steroids....#thinkaboutit

Or is it because he gets paid $4.5M per season, provided he continues to play and not retire?

RDP may be a nice guy, but he is a symbol of the Milbury era. He is a symbol of all the failures and mistakes that this team made during Milbury's tenure. Unless he starts to not only stay healthy but play at an elite level, nobody who follows the Isles is going to give him the benefit of the doubt or support him.

For this team to truly move on, they should buy RDP out and move on. Its best for the Isles and best for RDP. let him go somewhere else and be a back-up on a one-year deal and re-start his career. The organization needs to move on and let a guy like Poulin back up Nabby and get some experience.

- Jethro09

9 years at 4.5 million or 1 year back up deal??

i take option A

that's not an unfair assessment, but I think KO has more in him than just a second line winger. Power forwards take time (and he's not going to be a power forward in the sense of physical body checking, but more of a use the body to shield the puck and work in the corners kind of winger) and I really think this year he breaks out for 30-35 goals and 65-70 points. If he stays healthy I think we'll see a heck of an improvement from him

I may end up being proven wrong, I can't say you're incorrect, I just see him as having more in him than he's shown so far.

Really. Hey, who knows, maybe the guy is/was doing it and maybe not. But just hurling that kind of thing out there like it's a known fact when it's based on nothing but a misreading of a Milbury quote, a few baseless entries in some scattered comments sections, and some wild speculation...

Like the old advertisement in between periods at the Isles games used to say, "Think before you post."

He is not that much worse but Benn plays more of a power foward game where as Okposo gets knocked around waaaayyyy to easily. Benn is a better player than Okposo and I'm saying that with what little I've seen of Benn. With that said I don't hate Okposo I just like him for what he is, a great third liner and decent second line foward. I believe that's his ceiling.
- Cptmjl

The sad part is talent wise Okposo is much better than Benn. He explodes when he has a chance to score and then flops, whines to refs, dogs it back to his own end.. waaaay too often. I always point to that one game in Minn in front of his home crowd how friggin good he played. If he played like that every game EVERYONE would love the kid. I am praying he finally gets it this season. If not trade his arse to the NBA.

did u miss Dee's blog.. Let me recap.. There I was in the locker room. The handsome ruggedly good looking Martin was sweating over his equipment.. and hamonic was ooozing with rippling sweaty muscles as I asked him what he had for lunch... Dipietro swished his beloved locks into his islander hat and with his sparkling eyes told me all I needed to know.. he is ready.

Radek... How have you been able to last this long?

B/c I only play about 6 games a year.... really helps you prevent your body from breaking down. I sign that contract.. play a few games and then pack it in and go home.

Im noticing a trend here. Every sentence basically has an "if". If the 20 goal scorers produce what their capable of. If Brad Boyes produces what he once did. If, Ryan Strome makes the team. If Mark Streit has a season that he's capable of having. If Visnovsky reports. Too many "if's"....

The problem with alot of NHL'ers is they take nights off.

This year the games will be more intense... harder hitting.

I like the shorter schedule... should be fun.

You almost have to break it down to five 10 game series.

You better be above .500 in 3 of 5 of them!!!

hahaha....well played..

although the douchebag you are referring to is hopefully on his way ..cough*visnovsky*cough... which would tell me you in fact would want him on the isles if he were to be sent back to the isles?

- LetsGoIsles

So how long are you going to leave that quote from me as your location? Are you still going to leave it up when it's proven right?

Same shat every season under Snow(no pun intended). The guy has not made one trade or signing besides Smyth that you could say would definitively help this club.
