You asked me this the other day and I answered with 6 dman who id want Garth to go after.

Again, i say just because there havent been many trades doesnt mean someone not avail.

Heres a suggestion.........make an offer sheet to PK Subban, being that we have 20 plus million in cap space.

Dude, its EVERY phucking time.......low risk high reward. Thats all well and good, but you cannot seriously say you're putting your best foot forward when you're constantly shopping at garage sales. How many former first round busts are we gonna take a chance on. Its embaressing at this point. What argument can you make to a Ranger fan with this lineup...??

kubina? not even in the nhl anymore. you want garth to sign him now??

zidlicky? On February 24, 2012, Zidlicky was traded to the New Jersey Devils from the Minnesota Wild in exchange for Kurtis Foster, Nick Palmieri, Stephane Veilleux, a Washington Capitals' 2nd round draft pick in 2012 and a conditional pick in 2013...youd want to trade all of that for a guy with a combined -45?? (not to mention he gave the rangers headaches trying to get him to sign in the us)

nick schultz? the guy who since 2008 is a combined -28?

oduya? was traded in a deal for ilya kovalchuk...isles cant match that and wouldnt want them to.

these are the big ticket names that would make you happy?????

- LetsGoIsles

You as usual(not surprisingly)are missing the point.

It's not that it's a bad pick up it's just that it doesn't fill an immediate need. We need NHL ready/proven dmen.

I agree but its obvious they aren't making any moves until Brooklyn

Without Vis, we're looking at a battle for six spots among:

Streit, Martinek, Hamonic, AMac, Carkner, Finley, Hickey, Donovan.

I think we can cobble something together that's at least better than where we thought we were at on Monday morning...even if it is still worst in the Atlantic:

Streit-Martinek
AMac-Hamonic
Hickey/Donovan-Carkner/Finley

At least there's some competition for roster spots, rather than handing the sixth spot to Donovan and having Wishart inked in as 7 for when Marty goes down. I don't know a thing about Hickey and Finley, so like I said, I'll reserve judgment until watching these guys play a shift. I'm not doing cartwheels here...I'd like better options...but I can't get too mad over players I've never seen play.

You said to name guys who were traded that could help this club. I know you love to play GM and offer this guy for that guy, but i named 4 names of NHL dman who would help this club. More so than Finley who had a cup of coffee in the show, and hickey who's never sniffed the NHL ice.

can we stick to the topic here Balls to the wall.

All I can say this year like I said Iwill be happy with 20 wins. It is the same team basically as last year with a couple of more wash ups to fill the holes.

I wouldn't be so sure about Brooklyn being the end all say all? Every year everyone says this is the year followed by the same shat. I'm not convinced. It's almost like the fan base gives these guys an excuse. If they continue doing what they are doing till 2015 they won't have much left to work with. Player wise or fan wise. FA's aren't going to suddenly flock bcs of Brooklyn. It will help but Snow is still the GM and Wang is still the owner, that more than anything is the hang up with players. Players don't want to play with people who don't want to win.

Noone forcing me to do anything...........but again, if they want to put forth a minor league product then charge minor league prices.

Expecting subban or benn in every trade? HOW ABOUT A TRADE.......something to show you are trying to make the playoffs.

- kindlyrick

This is a throw-away season for the Isles. They have a built-in excuse with the lockout to continue to put off a serious push to get into the playoffs. Snow isn't going to make any meaningful trades or sign anyone until July 1 at the earliest. And when they do start making trades (if they ever do), they're certainly not going to give away three of a combination of top picks/prospects for guys like Jamie Benn or PK Subban.

I agree. I should have said I hope they spend when it comes to Brooklyn. It should be next year when they open up the wallets but like you said who knows with these guys

Exactly this is not a playoff team and everyone knows it. Front office coaches and even players know that. It is what it is and us Islander fans are forced to be tortured another season.
