Less is more sometimes. I don't think many GM's were willing to help Burke out on deals. Sutter did and he got fired - Arctic_AARDVARK
What are you talking about, Willis? These GM's "help each other out" all the time when making trades! |

It's a start though.. Carlyle said he doesn't yet have the players he needs to play his defensive system. The PK can't possibly get any worse. - Arctic_AARDVARK
There are still about 76 percentage points to go.... |

Yeah when Randy came in last year, he had no impact on the team. Well the team is pretty much the same this season. |

Winning a few more games 'right now' is not enough positive to take on a 33 year old goaltender, clearly on the downside of his career, for 10 more years. You've got to look big picture. It isn't pretty. - triggermartin
If Luongo is clearly on his downside then his downside is still a HUGE step up over Reimer. People were kicking around the idea of getting Roloson or Nabakov last year, im not suggesting that because a 33 year old goaltender still has lots to prove, a 40 yr old not so much. |

The other fact is that Luongo doesn't even want to be here. By all accounts, he'd much rather be 'taking his talents to South Beach'. Let him go. |

[quote=lumlums]But last year he had no training camp to help to get the players come round to his way of thinking....
So with a VERY short training camp & no pre-season games, mabie we will have to wait till next season's full schedule b4 we see what Carlyle can truly do with this team. In other words, don't raise your expectations this season.

18 months ago at the end of the 2010-11 Season Reimer was making the big saves on the penalty kill. I think he deserves a chance to play to see if he can regain the form he had then and at the start of the year last year.
All trading Luongo does for the Leafs is lose some potenial players that could be decent in the future and probably ruin a chance for one of the decent prospects in this draft. I honestly don't see the Leafs even sniffing the playoffs this year too many good teams in the eastern conference.
Teams like the Hurricanes, Sabres, Devils, Senators, Panthers, Lightning and jets will all be battling for the 6-8 seeds in the east. |

I agree. It will be tough for the leafs to win more than 10 games.
Any bets? |

You know what's never been discussed, if LU wants to go to Florida, don't the Lightning need a fricken goalie???? They should buy out Vinnie & get Lu. Florida has Jose, Scott & Jacob coming up in a few years. They are stacked in net. |

Reimer hasn't played games in months. None of the Leafs core players played in Europe or the AHL. Other teams have significant players in mid season form. Players ill suited to the coach's style. We are going to get trampled out of the gate. |

YES. You can always count on NJ, the Sens & FL being in the mix. Also, I doubt TB & Buff will be as bad as last year. Also don't forget the Canes. |

The lightning can barely afford Vinnie to play the game. They certainly can't afford to pay him not to play.
