Phaneuf, Franson, Liles, Rielly, Gunner, Gardiner with prospects blacker holzer percy and finn down the line we are pretty good on D at the moment. Most of you hate phaneuf but i like what he brings, he did very good last year points wise, makes the big hits, fights at times, but is slow to get back on D but overall better than what we had before. Our D has notably improved besides having blowchemin and komi. Now those are players who sucked. Our future D are fine right now and the ones on the leafs now are decent enough and on paper. The thing we need to back them up, is a goaltender. If reimer cant stop the rollers or easy shots, then you cant always blame the defense. You would see if we had luongo, the team would be way more competitive, does not have to be luongo, but even a halak who carried the blues and habs to the playoffs, would notably improve our competitiveness on the ice and you will see that during games.

Wings had to transition to a salary cap league and still win, that's more impressive to me. EPL is like MLB, their team payrolls are so out of whack it's not even really a competitive league

Gardiner Rielly

Liles Franson

backed up with a decent goaltender(lets say a luongo or halak) some day if Rielly were to make the team eventually? If the leafs really needed another stay home defender it will be done down the line, it is not necessary now because reimer is not "the goalie" to save us unless he fully becomes the next Cujo of the leafs. If we got a goaltender, you would see the leafs change notably.
