Tlustly, Stralman, Pogge, Earl, Wellwood?
- systemtool

Tlusty was never really hyped.

Stralman was, and has more or less developed into a decent second pairing puck mover.

Pogge was thought to be good by everyone. Nobody saw his crash coming.

You want to trade all that for Luongo???
- burn

So are there any particular compnents of this deal that aren't very good?

With JVR added to the team, and Kadri ready to make the jump, Mac can go and make a roster spot open.

Komi just needs to GTFO.

Not saying the last part of that deal has to be there, as I'm not sure what to make of Ashton yet.

I was also thinking the 2nd would be on condition of making the playoffs.

I know some of you would enjoy knowing the real reason Brian Burke was canned, forwarded to me from my brothers within the Press community:

Contrary to popular belief, the reason for Burke's firing was not his willingness to pull off the Roberto Luongo trade.

Brian Burke outside of hockey is somewhat of a Hound, akin to that of a white Tiger Woods. Burke has been through two marriages, the latest of which is now on the rocks. Combine this with the greatest of personal tragedies as his son announced he was Gay, only to be killed in a car accident shortly thereafter. So therapeutically, Burke is now enjoying to the fullest extent what little time he has left by hopping into the sack with as many wayward Ditchpigs as possible.

Rogers Sportsnet's Hazel Mae certainly plays the field as well. Her marriage to minor league baseball player Kevin Barker is widely regarded as a sham. Her career took her to Boston where she was the Anchor Hog for The New England Sports Network and the Major League Baseball Network. While there, she took the time to grease the poles of many of the Boston Red Sox players.

Upon returning to Toronto in November 2011, she anchored Sportsnet Connected from behind her familiar glass desk. She also worked well under the desk in her spare time, servicing several Toronto pro athletes.

Well it didn't take long for Brain Burke and Hazel Mae to hook up. In the summer of 2012, Sportsnet removed her from the glass desk because she wouldn't fit, insisting that she stand while on air. The reason she wouldn't fit is that she was pregnant. She became so dishevelled looking as the summer wore on that Sportsnet sent her home while they decided how to handle the impending scandal.

Scandal, you say? Well yessirr......The father could have been any number of worthy candidates, but the lucky dad is, in fact, our very own Brian Burke.

So splashdown was back in December. Hazel and Burkie have been at odds as to if, how and when to release the news. Sportsnet still doesn't know what to do with her. On the other hand, new owners of the Toronto Maple Leafs in Bell Canada have little, if any, tolerance for egotistical. belligerent, sex-addicted senior executives and decided to eliminate the problem by gassing Burke.

When you think about it, this makes perfect sense. It had nothing to do with any aspect of running the hockey team, by virtue of the fact that Dave Nonis and all remaining hockey management are Burke disciples. They will take the club in the same direction as before. All the Maple Leaf press conferences dance around the issue of Burke's dismissal, because they can't tell you the real reason that you now know.

You get my vote as thw #1 poster on HB. This is a brilliant post & everything makes sense on here. I'm looking forward to your future posts for years to come. I thought Hazel had some class, I guess not. I thought Brian had integrity, I guess not. Amazing how people can ruin their own fine careers cause they have no will power. I can only shake my head.

Leafs were stupid for putting Pogge in net playing in Buffalo which is Toronto's house of horrors/ The Buffalo house of horrors has killed many young Leaf talents.

The NHL and NHLPA reached an agreement today allowing teams to buyout players before the start of this season.

I have no issue with him between the pipes for us. I have issue with giving up much (or indeed, anything at all) to acquire him on his current contract...

For this season, yes. It then comes off the cap next year. It essentially allows guys like Wedden, Gomez to play with new teams rather than sitting on the couch shooting beer bottle caps at the TV on a Saturday night...

You have to give to get. I say trade anyone but Gardiner, Rielly, Kessel, Lupul, Grabo, or Phaneuf

If the Leafs don't manage to make the playoffs this year I'd be in the 'trade Kessel' camp.

He's not got a whole lot of reasons to resign after next year at the rate things are going.

The list of guys who shouldn't be moved is short. I'd add Nazem, Biggs, Gunnar, Franson, Frattin, Mckegg & Colborne to that list.

While I was on the fence about Joe Colborne for a while, I like that he's really bounced back from last year's injury and benefit from all that extra ice time recently

That's what I've said all along. If it's a quantity deal for Luongo involving Leaf servicable parts like the Phaneuf deal, I have no problem with Lu playing for the Leafs. If it aint a deal like Phaneuf's, forget it.

With the cap coming down next season (by about $6m), the Nucks are going to have issues. Including Lu, the Nucks have 13 players on roster and less than $9m to fill the gaps. If they don't trade him, they have almost no option to buy him out. Patience may work wonders here.

I'm really happy Colly's settled in and made a career for himself, it was too bad he was so injury prone back in the day.

White's a good D too

That's pretty much what I've gotten at in this saga. Not that they shouldn't get something half decent in return, but it's not like VAN paid very much to get him in the first place

uhh, Colly is still injury prone....

Ive loved White ever since last season when he saved a goal by diving into the net and stopping a shot with his face.
