What more are you sending us? I mean you're a smart poster, you know that this deal has you guys are getting a 20 goal scorer and 18 goal scorer, two 40 point players under the age of 27. We get back a 27 year old 10 goal scorer and a 6th defenseman?
- mykokes

He'd be top 4 on the Leafs.

Can we include Ebbett?

Not allowed to talk about them, Billy should take that down or he might get in some trouble.
- Leafland

In general yeah. I would venture a guess to say MOST know the rumours.

@botchford: Hilarious RT @JamiesonCanucks Canucks shootout to end practice: Luongo stops all 5 shooters. Schneider gives up four goals on 5 shooters.

Great. Now we HAVE TO throw in Gardiner AND Rielly into this trade.

Only if we can include Komisarek, as I hear you'll need a replacement for Edler, and for that, you'll have to send us Gaunce and 2 firsts.

Doesn't sound like a top 3 goalie in the world to me.

Watch him have a Reimer like sophomore season.

He'd be top 4 on the Marlies.

I should really rethink my trolling activities, and work harder at having real hockey conversations with my fellow posters.

Agreed on the first point, and yes you probably should on the second. Visit any time Scoob.

No one would be surprised if Luongo put up the best stats this year. Thats how you know he is an elite goaltender. We will get Lu and the nay-sayers will eat crow.

You can laugh all you want but Ebbet is a top 6 forward for us right now!

Any update on JVR?

Here's to hoping this team pulls it together out of the gate. If we end up moving for Lu and moving Gunnarsson in the process it'll result in Dion having the play with the likes of Komisarek, and may god have mercy on Luongo if he has to contend with the likes of those two on the same pairing.

I was kind of hoping Schroeder would get that slot.

Doubt it.

Schneider will still end up a no. 1, provided the fans don't drive him out of town.

I just think it'd be better for VAN to ease him into the roll by giving him 25-30 games this year and see if he can carry things over into the playoffs rather than throw him to the wolves.

Still, with no Kesler out there, VAN will be in a tough spot this year

okay.

Raycroft.

The guy has like 60 games to his name. Crapping the bed in his first full season would be a huge shocker to anyone outside Vancouver. Just because you guys have annointed him a perennial Vezina contender, doesnt' mean anyone else has.

Hard to say, if he really does want out of VAN then how will that effect his performance?

Will him outplaying Schneider and resulting in Cory being moved in the summer work for a guy who's already asked to be moved?

They both might be at this point. Here's our lineup without Booth and Kesler:

Sedin - Sedin - Burrows
Raymond - ??? - ???(2 of Schroeder, Ebbet, Kassian)
Higgins - Lapierre- Hansen(probably our new "2nd line")
Volpatti - Malhotra - Weise

That's horrible after the first line.

Gosh darn, I do remember some young lad named Cody who would have slotted into that second line centre spot quite nicely.

Yeah, it's pretty weak after that first line. And what the hell is up with Schroeder. Is he a career AHLer or something?

Once again, you take the statements made by our homer blogger and troll fans(which Ill admit that we have a lot of lol) and assume that it's the same thinking as the entire fanbase. No realistic Canuck fan is 100% convinced that he'll succeed and become a perennial Vezina contender. Until you stop taking these troll statements so seriously it's hard to really have a conversation with you.

Yup, I was totally against that trade and still am. I used to be pretty excited by Schroeder but at this point career AHL'er seems more likely than solid top 6 NHL'er IMO. Hopefully he proves me wrong though.

Luongo is not staying in Vancouver. He will be traded either in the next few days or after he lets in his first weak goal and the crowd gets on him. The sooner they trade him the better for both sides. The leafs have always played much better with a good goalie. I think it goes a long way to boost their confidence. I just think its asinine to try to develop young players when there is no good goaltending to bail them out when they make a mistake. No team has confidence in themselves if they don't have trust in the guy between the pipes. The longer the leafs wait the more they are shooting themselves in the foot.
