Leafs defense can't afford more subtractions since dealing away Schenn & Aulie. Needs to be forwards that Nonis would deal for Benn. For sure Kadri or Frattin would have to be included. I'd seriously rather keep Kadri. He has MUCH better potential than Frattin. But if Dallas was insistent on Kadri in a deal for Benn, I'd part with Nazem. - GCHonda
If the Leafs could land a #1 centre, I wouldn't care about this year.
Bring up Fraser and Ranger and whomever else - do not care. |

Just a note on Rielly and something to think about, Carlyle kept another 18-year-old defenceman in Cam Fowler out of training camp with the Ducks. |

I think an offer based around Kulemin, Colborne and say D'Amigo could land Benn. - Unholy_Forward
....having already ditched ribeiro and with a broke down roy as the top guy they would need a centreman in return....and not a career minor leaguer like colborne, but a blue chipper.

But further to your point, any trade for Benn could include Kadri, Colborne, Connolly, Lombardi, Steckel and/or Bozak.

Luongo's contract is obviously a concern, but he's still a hell of a goaltender. If he had a 5 million dollar contract at say 4 years, I don't think there'd be any hesitation by anyone. It's not everyday a goaltender of his caliber is made available. If I had to choose between giving up either Kadri or Frattin in a Luongo trade, I'd choose Frattin hands down. - ThePresident
But Kadri has sooooooooooo much potential it's scary. If he ever puts his NHL game together, the Leafs will regret the day they gave up on him. Don't get me wrong, I love Frattin but Kadri just has too much upside. Frattin might be the better NHL player now but Kadri will surpass him one day in a big way. |

I agree with you in not giving up Kadri, what I'm trying to say is that I'd throw Frattin into a trade for Luongo rather than Kadri. |

Leafs simply don't have that, but if they did, that player would pencilled in between Kessel & Lupol and Nonis would have no interest in Benn. |

no player of any value better be included in any proposal for luongo....not kadri, not frattin, no gardiner, no rielly, no picks.....they can have komi and connolly and damn well love it. |

I'd do thid deal in a heart beat as any Leaf fan would, question is...... would the Dallas GM? - GCHonda
Well they would need a top six C prospect coming back (Kadri or Colborne), a top six winger - Kulemin, MacA, Frattin, and a prospect - D'Amigo, Blacker, Percy, Finn etc
I think this would help get negotiations going. Probably some barking over picks and player choices. I think if we could get Oleksiak or Campbell in the trade it would be awesome, but hey.

Biggest reason why now is that any injury to those players would void or cause a grievance on a buyout next season.
I wonder if that includes off ice ones but it is a moot point now. |

Roy is only 30 though. He seemed to play very well with his teammates in Dallas.
I think Colborne still has some potential. If not they could take Kadri (Ribeiro 2.0) instead. |

As good as Benn is, Leafs don't need another LW. Besides, it's going to take alot for Nonis to get Benn. Better to use the resources to get another young center or goalie. I thimk Reilly is a better option. He can play center, he's young. He won't come with the same trade price as Benn. Besides, the Avs have Stastny & Ducshene at center, making high salaries so O'Reilly is expendable. It's an option Nonis should seriously look into.
Well if the Leafs went after Benn, neither him nor Kulemin nor JVR are 3rd line LW's. So if Dallas is willing to take Kulemin as the big piece in a trade package than mabie a deal could be possible for Benn. I still think O'Reilly fits the Leafs needs more at center. - GCHonda
Benn plays center. He's listed at LW but has converted to C. Player profile sites need to update this. |

I wouldn't give up any young asset for Luongo, I'm glad Nonis has even said that himself. Praise the lord!!!!!!!!!!!
I'd ONLY give up quantity for Luongo. Van can take their pick from Connely, Lombardi, Komisarek & Bozak & a few others. Much like the Phaneuf deal. Leafs got Dion for quantity servicable parts. |

I stand corrected. I read up further on Benn. He's got a great future as a #1 center. Would be the perfect fit for the Leafs if Nonis can make a smart trade. |

I'd love to see Nonis trade one of Connolly, Lombo or Komi and get a 1st back. |

Preferably I'd rather have the Stars talke Colborne. Reason is cause Colborne is primarily a center. If the Leafs gett Benn, they'd have Benn & Grabo as their top 2 centers, so Colborne is expendable. Kadri can play the wing so he's more valuable to the Leafs than Colborne. |
