Once again, based on what I was writing before, I was trying to point out that Frattin is overrated, and I can't figure out why Leaf fans balked at the Kings for wanting Frattin in a trade for Bernier. I don't want Bernier myself, but I can clearly see that Bernier is much more valuable than Frattin. - ThePresident
No you compared him to John Mitchell. Then I threw up in my mouth and we all had a good laugh. |

Although Frattin is not a superstar, can we at least see a leaf draft pick develop into an NHLer and play for the leafs? i think its been 100 years since that happened |

I don't want Bernier, I just don't think Leaf fans should be acting as if Frattin is more valuable than Bernier. If the Kings came to me and said Frattin for Bernier, I'd do it in a heartbeat, but I'd rather go with Luongo, Leafs need veteran leadership. I'd throw Frattin in a deal for Luongo, bottom line, hes expendable. - ThePresident
I'd do a Bernier/Reimer swap. I think Frattin has a lot more upside at this point. I wouldn't use him to land LOLongo.
Veteran leadership is key. I think that will come after this season though. This is the season where we find out if Reims is 'the real deal' or if Scrivens can post his AHL #'s in the NHL.
Once that riddle is answered we can bring in a veteran - Elliot, Vokoun, Anderson etc etc, to mentor said goalie.
I don't like the route of LOLongo due to us being in year four of a ten year rebuild.
We have cornerstones in our defensive core with Rielly and Gardiner, we have a star winger and a great complimentary 2nd line.
What we need is bottom six role players - Ross, McKegg, Biggs, Frattin, but that will take a few years.
Tank for the next two years and see what gems you pick up in the draft. |

Wow he's got #1 center potential. He'll cost more than O'Reilly in a trade. Can Nonis be like Jays GN Alex A & make a smart trade for Benn? If I was Nonis, dangle Kulemin, I mean you won't get Benn for NK straight up but Nonis can offer Kulemin plus something else. - GCHonda
Benn needs to learn who to win a draw, but otherwise he is solid.
I just can't imagine Dallas gives up a guy like that, young, versatile, gritty, 30-goal guy......it would cost the Leafs a ton. |

@TSNBobMcKenzie: So, as others reported, Gomez and Redden and any player for that matter can get an "accelerated compliance buyout" before Saturday's opener.
@TSNBobMcKenzie: Teams such as NYR and MTL would take full cap hit on those players this season. But no cap hit next season.
TSNBobMcKenzie: Clubs will save 1/3 of players' actual salary this year - no cap benefit - by buying out now but players would get chance to sign elsewhere |

Gardiner, Kadri, Bozak and Franson?
With Benn, we no longer need Kadri or Bozak.
Gardiner because you have to give to get.
And Franson because I just thought I needed to add something.
Yeah, still not enough. |

Comparing him to John Mitchell as in a player hyped up by Leaf fans like yourself, only to realize he sucks. Pretty comparable stats if you ask me. It's probably safe to say you were one of the fans that thought Stralman was the second coming of Lidstrom, Pogge was the next Brodeur, Earl was the next Iginla, Mitchell was the next Dougie Gilmour, Kondratiev was the next Visnovsky. Come on man, Frattin is a 3rd liner at best, call it like it is, an easily replaceable player, a feel good story. He has Tim Brent and Joey Crabb type player written all over him. Easy to find. |

Any veterans on the Leafs that Dallas might be interested in for Benn, except for Lupol & Kessel? |

I think an offer based around Kulemin, Colborne and say D'Amigo could land Benn. |

Leafs defense can't afford more subtractions since dealing away Schenn & Aulie. Needs to be forwards that Nonis would deal for Benn. For sure Kadri or Frattin would have to be included. I'd seriously rather keep Kadri. He has MUCH better potential than Frattin. But if Dallas was insistent on Kadri in a deal for Benn, I'd part with Nazem. |

Luongo's contract is obviously a concern, but he's still a hell of a goaltender. If he had a 5 million dollar contract at say 4 years, I don't think there'd be any hesitation by anyone. It's not everyday a goaltender of his caliber is made available. If I had to choose between giving up either Kadri or Frattin in a Luongo trade, I'd choose Frattin hands down. |
