Lombardi should be used as bait.
- bixll

Yes, with his boiling value it's a wonder he has yet to be traded for picks and prospects.

A 24yr old goalie with meh pro numbers and a resume of 35 NHL games or one of the only players we have that actually uses his body (and well) who can also drive the net and pot a few.

I'd still go with Frattin on this one. I have to agree with LM, once you made the Mitchell comparison I cant really take you seriously.

Bernier has the potential to be a #1 goaltender in the NHL, what is Frattin's potential?

This was never about substituting one for the other, somehow it's being assumed. Two different conversations, I was speaking about how Lombardi has potential to be the Leafs bounceback player, then in another conversation said Frattin is overrated and should be used as tradebait.
- ThePresident

Fair enough, I always say people can have their opinion and I will respect that, I see potential, I may be wrong and when or if I'm wrong, I admit it here.

As good as Benn is, Leafs don't need another LW. Besides, it's going to take alot for Nonis to get Benn. Better to use the resources to get another young center or goalie. I thimk Reilly is a better option. He can play center, he's young. He won't come with the same trade price as Benn. Besides, the Avs have Stastny & Ducshene at center, making high salaries so O'Reilly is expendable. It's an option Nonis should seriously look into.

Well if the Leafs went after Benn, neither him nor Kulemin nor JVR are 3rd line LW's. So if Dallas is willing to take Kulemin as the big piece in a trade package than mabie a deal could be possible for Benn.

And if Orr scores 50 this year, he will also surprise a lot of Leafs fans.

Sorry, but Lombardi was a waste of skate laces last year. Considering he's been inactive since April 2012, I can't possibly see how he could be more effective than kids who have been playing on the Marlies.

Hey, I hope I'm wrong. I hope Lombardi comes back and scores 50 points (pro-rated, of course).

I just don't see it happening. And considering there are too many bodies for the 3rd and 4th lines, I'd rather not have him taking up a roster spot.

Yeah, it's a cut-throat business. But Lombardi has done exactly nothing to deserve a roster spot.

Understandable, not saying he's an amazing player, but obviously after missing a whole season due to injury, it's pretty safe to say last season is not what we should be basing his performance off of. If he can regain his form, he's a pretty serviceable player.

@jonasTSN1050: Saw van Riemsdyk walking around the Leafs dressing room. Looked to be alright. Will see if he practices tomorrow.

@AtomicWedgie: Saw Kessel in the Leafs dressing room. Looked badly swollen. I asked if he had been hit in abdomen by Komi puck, but he didn't know what I was talking about.

He won't pan out. We have Reims and Scrivens along with Rynnas and in the next 4-6 years we'll have Sparks.
Be excited for one of MacKinnon, Drouin, Barkov or Shattenkirk.

Don't we already have enough goalies under the age of 25 with the potential to be a #1?

We already have 4. We don't need another.

I don't want Bernier, I just don't think Leaf fans should be acting as if Frattin is more valuable than Bernier. If the Kings came to me and said Frattin for Bernier, I'd do it in a heartbeat, but I'd rather go with Luongo, Leafs need veteran leadership. I'd throw Frattin in a deal for Luongo, bottom line, hes expendable.

Once again, based on what I was writing before, I was trying to point out that Frattin is overrated, and I can't figure out why Leaf fans balked at the Kings for wanting Frattin in a trade for Bernier. I don't want Bernier myself, but I can clearly see that Bernier is much more valuable than Frattin.

Wow he's got #1 center potential. He'll cost more than O'Reilly in a trade. Can Nonis be like Jays GN Alex A & make a smart trade for Benn? If I was Nonis, dangle Kulemin, I mean you won't get Benn for NK straight up but Nonis can offer Kulemin plus something else.
