Still lots of Time, kesler still young. Kassian, Corrado, Schroder, Connaton, Jensen, prospects coming in luongo deal, Eddie Lack, 3 years before sedins decline to draft more first round prospects. I'd say were pretty well off.

ok? could say that about any team and its prospects.

The problem with that trade from the Dallas perspective is that scoring wingers are easier to come by than centers who possess Benn's package of skill, size, toughness, and exceptional two-way game. Not saying that proposal is ridiculous in terms of value, but when you consider how different players have different values to different teams, the wheels kind of fall off the bus.
- SteveTambellini

The problem is, getting his name on a contract at a reasonable rate. Dallas can't get that right now. You get 2 more years of Kessel at 5.4 million. Benn will be in the 6 range. I'd even sweeten with Bozak, to get this done.

All Toronto's prospects havn't done jack shizz. Even when our players get old we have young players that will do what the sedins and Kesler did for Vancouver when North west express got old.
- pker2theend

Im sorry but which young players do we have that are remotely going to do anything like the Sedins and Kessler. Our farm system is horrendous. I would trade our farm system for the Leafs any day of the year. Gillis hasnt produced a single NHL'r. The one he did produce he has traded (Cody).

If we dont win the cup in a 2 - 3 years we are done for a few years. The only team to have rebuilt on the fly was the wings. They replaced Yzerman shanny with dats and zetterberg. It was a brilliant job by Holland

I love the confidence of leafs fans, who haven't made the playoffs or been relevant for almost the last 10 years. You guys can get all the offence you want but if you can't keep the dam puck out of your net then you have NOTHING!! Luongo has a way better track record then any goalie you have had in years.

Keep your damn goalies and we will run with Schneids and Lou. Then when you miss the playoffs for another year, we will see who is laughing.

Not sure if DAL wants to deal with this PENS again, but given that Benn can play wing, I think he would look really nice alongside Sid. Trade would be huge though, money flying around, picks, etc. Perhaps something like:

Martin, Despres, Bennett + 1st round pick <-> Benn

???

I can only assume DAL would require a 1st line C in return - which wouldn't happen with the PENS, but perhaps this deal could work? This would add to the DAL defense significantly, both now and looking forward. Bennett looks to have a lot of potential and plays a similar style as Benn. Pens would likely turn around and deal for Gonchar in this case.

Benn - Crosby - Dupuis
Kunitz - Malkin - Neal
Kennedy - Sutter - Cooke
Glass - Vitale - Jeffrey/etc

Letang - Niskanen
Gonchar - Orpik

If the Stars would be willing to take on Kessel at $5.4 million, I don't see why they would have a problem signing Benn for $6 million to keep him, which is as much as he will get. Again with the value, it's not life you're far off, but Benn is a more desirable type of player than Kessel is.

It won't be you guys, because you'll be out in the first round. We'll be sitting with a top 5 drafted player. Will you still be laughing then?

We will... because We are not paying luongo till the year 3005.

That goalie controversy when Schneider lets in the inevitable weak one is not something canuck fans should be excited for

That package wouldn't get the deal done, and even if it did, Pittsburgh wouldn't be able to keep Benn because their payroll is so high. That and the fact that it simply wouldn't be fair.

Hence a sweetener. Bozak? Franson? Maybe even a Kadri. That's where the younger assets can be dealt, to get younger assets back. Dallas has more holes to fill and we can help them do it, for a price.

I think Martin turns it around this year, the change of venue could help him. In the deal though he is of little value, and is added for salary cap reasons mostly. It's not as though he is a useless D, he can still be a solid 4...

Any trade involving Benn would have to have Sutter going back. Didnt they let Staal go because of money? How could they afford Benn?

For the next 3 years? DAMN.

I would say, and alot would agree. This might be the last year for this core group to get it done.
