Maybe Kulemin can mentor JVR on how to play tough on the boards!*

*Why is it that everyone and their dog likes to make the redonkullous "mentor" argument when talking about goalies, and you occassionally see it with defencemen, but you never see it for forwards?

It is one of those misnomers like "let the kid go back and dominate the WJC or AHL" it just very rarely happens.

Team clearly needs Phaneuf to take a leadership role and fire a lazer off Connolly's forearm or high ankle.
Honestly, why don't they just send Connolly and Lombardi to the skate with the Marlies? If either one or both make the team out of camp... they'll play hard for 3 or 4 games and then revert back to the lazy schlumps that they were last year. Half of Connolly's offense - and there wasn't much of it - came off his ass and usually scored the 5th goal in a 5-1 game.. or the second leaf goal in a 7-2 loss three minutes before end. He contributed little or nothing to the PK -which he is supposed to be specialist in...
these guys are just occupying roster spots and cap space.
shoot Dion shoot! - BorjeFan4Ever
Maybe you didn't hear, but Carlyle had a sit down talk with Connolly yesterday or the day before.
Expect a new Connolly.
On a serious note, I at least find it refreshing that Carlyle is doing these sit-downs.
Better than Wilson's frown, bench a guy and never tell him what went wrong.

this seems like the longest week ever!
can we just have hockey already. Once the leafs start off 1-7-1, we can start the sell off - senstroll
Except Nonis has promised his players that they don't have to worry about being traded during the Valentine's Day season. Too much stress for the guys, so he's instituted his own roster freeze.
The sell off will have to wait until after Feb. 14th.

Since its valentines day, they will trade Kessel and his BFF Bozak together

I'd take Jamie Benn in a heartbeat!. He'd be an awesome first line centre for Lupul and Kessel.
Bozak isn't looking too bad though. He's got his flow back too lol
But really, pending no transactions. What is Carlyle going to do? Is Kadri once again victim of the contract numbers game. Right now my organizational depth chart would probably look like this.
Lupul Bozak Kessel
JVR Grabovski Kulemin
MacArthur Kadri Frattin
Komarov McClement Brown
Lombardi Steckel/Connolly Connolly/Steckel
What would you do?
Gunnarsson Phaneuf
Gardiner Franson
Liles Komisarek
Rielly Kostka
Mottau Holzer
Do we keep Rielly? Is it even worth it to burn that year and pull the same thing we did with Luke Schenn. Do we give Kostka a shot?
Would you start James Reimer or a mid-season form Ben Scrivens on Saturday?
Carlyle has a lot of questions to answer for sure.

well - based on the video that was posted of practice yesterday - good ole Timmy was skating the perimeter in his pretty red jersey... I think the name on the back was fragile.
if Dion isn't willing to fire one - then perhaps Fraser can take Timmy into the boards heavily, assuming Connolly ever actually goes near the boards.
