Don't see that staying come game time. Potter and Whitney is not a good combination you need more physicality there. I will be shocked if that's what Krueger goes with.

For the compliance buyouts, do players receive the full amount of their contract? Or just the amount they were going to make this season?

eg. is Gomez getting $10mil or $5.5mil if they buy him out before Saturday?

Oilers first PP unit at practice is J.Schultz, Hall, Eberle, RNH and Horcoff...2nd unti is Whitney, Yakupov, Hemsky, Gagner and Smyth

- Lahey

Ya interesting - wonder which of the forwards would be at the point

If that's a go game 1 - I reckon Gagner would be at the point on the 2nd unit.
Perhpas Horcoff on that first unit

Gagner was on the 2 PP point as per another tweet. Hartsi also switched with Horcoff.

You guys really have a legit shot at actually going from last place to winning the division.

You think the Wild have a better team? I'd take the Oiler over the Wild just because of the chemistry. Realistically I could see the Canucks finishing 2nd in the division, maybe even 3rd and barely squeaking into the playoffs if Kesler is out for more than the first month.

Clouts, it all depends on how the Canucks see the oil developing - if they are not worried, it might be the only reasonable deal on the table.

I seriously would be surprised to see Arnot in Ed. Not after the fans ran him out of town. You might hear him thinking, 'it will be a hot day in January in Edmonton before I return.' You never know - there may be enough green to make it bearable.

Where will they get another center??

Nah, just (frank)ing around.

I really don't see Vancouver not winning the division. Minny is too overrated. I do however think the Flames are underrated. I don't know that they make the playoffs, but they have quite a decent lineup of vets.

Agree with everything except us winning the vision, it all depends on how long Kesler is out and what style we play. IMO we're screwed if try to play the same puck possession style like we have the last few years with our second line out of the lineup. If we play more of a defensive style then I could see us possibly winning the vision in a tight race. Minny is definitely overrated, not sold on their defense and Parise/Suter are great but not guys who can carry a team. I agree that the Flames are underrated, this shortened season might be better for them than most think since they have a pretty deep roster of quality players. Colorado is a bit of a wildcard, lots of young talent and a nice mix of skill and grit could make them dangerous if they play well.

Calgary has Kipper and to me that's huge in 48 games.

Colorado is always a wild card, I think something is up though. Always hear rumors about the lockerroom and now RoR (frank)ing around isn't good.

As for your Nucks, still have the sisters and a goalie and while I think three quarters of your d are overrated/overpaid it's still a solid set. Especially now that you added former 3rd overall Cam Barker and Vandermeer.

FYI - Only italics is a joke.

Agreed with Colorado, they still can't seem to find a coach that fits well so it might just be the core of players.

I'm a believer in the advanced metric stats(the Yost stuff) and so I like the Garrison signing and believe that he'll be worth the money even if he doesn't score 10 goals a year. Hamhuis has been great and Edler is a very good offensive d-man. Bieksa IMO is a little overrated since he's only been able to play good hockey with Willie Mitchell and Dan Hamhuis in his entire career.

Barker is awful, still don't get that signing even for depth. Vandermeer I don't mind as an 8th d-man.
