If this team is committed to the future and winning, one of the kids needs to be captain. Look at the past few cup winning teams. Crosby, toews and brown. Basically entrusting the team with the kids an letting the older players play there role. It doesn't mean horcoff cant be a voice in the locker room, just moving on to a new better chapter with the oilers. I wish benn was signed so we can make him captain
Im really looking forward to a stars oilers playoff series, those were some of the best. - NoobasaurusRex
Totally agree. Even if Horcoff doesn't volunteer the C he'll loose it when he's bought out this next off season.

Which is why the deal wouldn't get done. The Oilers (and a lot of their fans) still have some faith in Hemsky and his abilities despite his injury history. The guy has sick hands. I just don't see the deal you suggested being anywhere close to what it would take for the Oilers to take Luongo off the Canucks hands. - NEEDSMORHORCOFF
I don't get why people think it "taking him off our hands" he had great numbers last year...and for several years before that. He's a top 10 goalie in the league. He just hasn't proven he can do it in the playoffs.
How bout this one then?
Luongo/Connaughton/Raymond for Khabbi/Hemsky and a 2nd |

As a die-hard Stars fan, I can tell you you guys are gonna like Fistric as long as he's not consistantly with Teubert, Peckham, Potter, etc.
Stick this dude with Ryan Whitney and you could have one of the better defenses in the leauge.

I dont know why anyone would consider petry a top 4 dman. if im the oil hes gone when klefbom is on the team next year. - allen_gamble
Petry might be the most complete defenseman the Oilers have. A much better version of Tom Gilbert. |

Yea, but the real question, is he the most complete player in the world? |

I guess you'd prolly be more familiar with Patrick Stefan |

I'm saying Luongo/Connaughton for Hemsky/Dubnyk and a 3rd - Nostra-daVus
I think your selling the canucks slightly short on this. First... you have possibly the best AHL goalie in Lack, you don;t ness need a backup goalie. Hemsky is healthy.... for now. and I thik you could get a 2nd (not a first) . maybe hemsky / 2nd / parvatti for luongo and tanev |

Atleast we didn't draft him. And we still won that game |

I can see Tambo kicking the tires on Luongo but he has to overpay in order to convince Gillis to trade within the division. A guy like Hartikainen would have to be included in the deal... and S.T. probably wouldn't do that.
Gillis is more in a position of strength than not, lots of teams are interested, Mike will just eventually compromise a little and pick the right deal. |

Lack is a beast, but if we trade Lu and Schneider god forbid gets hurt, Lack isn't ready for extended NHL action IMO. |

What amazes me about Fistric is that even though he got 235 hits last year, he only got 41pims which says something about his descipline |

Like I have already said Fistric can play in the top 4(3/4 specifically) and matching up with n schultz is a perfect shut down pair...its more likely petry spot but fistric can play the 4 with abilities he brings to the table. Dallas gave up too soon on this guy. |

.....he was our 1st round pick from 2004.
We didn't give up on him at all. He wasn't needed anymore. He's a top-4 fill in. Doesn't skate well enough to be considered a true top-4 dman. Pair him with a mobile guy like Ryan Whitney who can move the puck, and Fistric will be there to cover any defense lapses....with authority.
He doesn't do it often, but he does sometimes get caught going for a big hit. To his credit, very rarely does it usually end up in his own net. Some of that is attributed to good goaltending, but it's very hard to get around this guy; if he doesn't catch part of you, he catches all of you.
You guys are gonna love him. He hits like a (frank)ing mack truck. One of those guys that when he throws checks you can almost feel it through the TV. |

The oil are nowhere near a team that can win it all now. To even think this is foolhardy. Moves to marginally improve our deficiencies are welcomed. but swingin for the fences before the trade deadline at the earliest, could screw us horribly |

if Steve tambellini makes a trade for luongo and gives the Canucks anything but Horcoff , Souray, peckham and khabibulin in return consider Brian Burke's new gm job in Edmonton. luongo has the same attitude as Souray she pouts when shes not the number one star fans are sick of the very shy Kevin low and Steve tambellini sitting on there asses making 4 trades a year and pretending its the hardest job in the world but the Oilers do this all the time if luongo does agree to come to Edmonton they will end up giving Vancouver the farm ,the new rink and even the life time supply of chap stick for Shawn Horcoffs agent .Oiler fans are sick of watching this team loose there not only going fight for a playoff spot but be in the playoffs or i can see Katz cleaning house in the management lets don't kid or selves here Katz wants a rink and to get his rink he needs the WHOLE city on the Oilers band wagon and we all know a 4 game winning streak makes the front page of the Edmonton sun , has every news caster and radio personality talking about it all day long i just don't see it happening with luongo |
