I don't know about "development track". He played his first full season at 26. That's a fully developed goalie. but yeah, if he can get back to what he was pre-vertigo, he has a shot at being in the convo. Outside looking in, at best though.
- prock

That was his first season on North American ice when he was 26, so you could say he was still developing if you include adapting to the North American ice surface and different angles that come with that.

It's a moot point to argue between Gaborik and Kovalchuck. Gaborik only scores 40 goals every second year, and well last year....so this year his rubber band groin will fail and he'll spend more time in the pressbox than on the ice. History backs this.

Comparing and contrasting Kovalchuk and Gaborik

Comparing:
Both have a consistent 5 o'clock shadow.
Have trouble speaking English
Probably like clubbing to techno music

Contrasting:
Kovalchuk trucks around the ice while Gaborik is half asleep gliding around
Kovalchuk is a lazy Russian while Gaborik wishes he was a lazy Russian
Kovalchuk strong like bear. Gaborik weak like bunny rabbit
Kovalchuk strong like vodka. Gaborik weak like light beer.

how dumb are for saying that about the Rangers and Nash?

- tomburton99

See now you're just assuming that this is what I was thinking, I never said that we didn't trade players that were making an impact on our team at the time. Bergfors was doing really well on the devils, we were very excited about him.

So no, you're dumb for just assuming.

I dont' think there is ANY chance that Hiller is winning the vezina. the team in front of him isn't any better than it was last year, and not making the playoffs is probably not helpful when a goalie wants to win the vezina. i'd be shocked if he's in the top 5 for voting.

also, i think the wings are gonna take a HUGE step back this year. losing holmstrom, hudler, and lidstrom, and adding NOBODY worth mentioning. this team will struggle to even make the playoffs, and i don't think there is any chance that babcock is winning this award.

Bergfors had 27 points in 54 games when he was traded. Call me "dumb", but that's average at best in the nhl.

um, are you serious? Hagelin should have won the calder but all of those nhl people just stole it from him. A certain somebody, who happens to be posting in this thread, told me that Hagelin would have more points than Henrique and finish higher in the calder voting which in fact did happen. Please learn facts better.

not about hagelin. And i never called Berfors a bum. But that's exactly what he turned out to be. So again we come back to full circle. Obviously the devils got the better end of the Kovi trade. Did the Rangers get the better end of the Nash trade, maybe. We need to see him play some actual games. You defintely are a bright bulb.

i mean, it's so obvious. We have an irrelevant team with irrelevant players. I'm surprised we weren't in the bottom of the league last year with how terrible our team is. None of our prospects are good. All of our old players are trash and have never done anything in their careers. It's just a loser team with a loser culture. On top of that all of the players hate living in Jersey because let's be serious that's like living in prison. on top of all of this the only fans who actually go to our games are Rangers fans. I never thought contraction was good until I fully understood how terrible the Devils actually are.

Let's look at the Rangers. Yeah, they didn't win the cup but they should have. Not because they didn't actually win the games necessary but it should be rewarded to them as the most important team in the league. They have the best players but some how the league didn't see fit that they win it all. I pretty much think this is a travesty. I mean, the NHL let a team with no fans make it to the playoffs? If anything this should have been corrected in the lockout. The teams with the most fans get to go into the real Stanley Cup and then all of the other teams play in the 3rd world poor people (frank) cup. I just think it's terrible that the best goal tender of all time plays for the best franchise of all time but doesn't get to win championships. Just seems really unfair to me.

I'm the wall? Ok who's the one that has the attention span of a goldfish bringing up hagelin and bergfors and how I was trashing the devils and how I called Gaborik better than Kovi. I'm the wall.

another gem for the superior.

Clearly you're the one at fault for not being able to see the hidden talents of waiver poster child nicklas bergfors. it's also predetermined that the rangers will score about 10-20 goals per game because they have more talent than all other teams in the league. So much so that lundqvist will skate out of the net with the puck and start taking slappers so he can get in on the action. Hockey teams will cower in fear to the prowess and resolve of the New York Rangers. Upon arrival to away arenas, the townfolk will gather with sacrifices and gifts in hopes that the mighty Rangers will show mercy upon their hockey team. A dynasty has been born.
