In all seriousness, i think Carlyle will get Kessel into form. As he matures as a player, he's hopefully going to realize how to better himself defensively. Or nothing will change at all this year and he will be caught floating around our blue line. *Shrugs*

- Timeforsoup

Yeah... Kessel is at the age where he needs to begin maturing as a player and start playing a more all around game.

I have my doubts.. But here's to hoping.

He always starts out on fire... It's getting him to play a full consistent season that seems to be the issue.

I think he's just one of those guys who goes as the leafs go, not the other way around

- Dozzer

I don't expect him to start out on fire. He didn't play anywhere this year and isn't exactly always in the best shape to begin with.

I think carlyle's line matching might offset that. Randy is no fool, if he can balance the odds by matching him against other players in the same boat, it might just be enough

In the end, it'll be the same. He will disappear against the Bruins and feast on the Senators.

The leafs aren't moving kadri for an aging salary dump. Good god.

dont get me wrong.. he put up points, which is what he is there to do..

but, for example, out of 37 goals last year, only 6 came after feb 7

so first 57 games: 0.544 goals per game

last 25: 0.24 goals per game

He was also playing with an injured wrist, and Lupul was also hurt

its not meant to be a slam on kessel. really, its not, but until he proves consistency to me, i cant give him that credit.

i'm sure every player in the league has their share of "what ifs?" at the end of each season

Yup. With Bozak as his center.

Not bad for the 6th overall point getter.

Kessels issue is helping out on D, not his offensive production.

Lesson be learned; the Leafs got him from the Canucks.

Leafs don't have a good history with former Canucks. Gary Valk, Jyrki Lumme and Robert Reichel come to mind immediately.

I think Alex Mogilny is the only exception in the last 20 years off the top of my head.
